I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

I am moving from the east coast to LA soon. I know a couple of people out there so it may help but generally speaking will be an adventure in itself. Nervous but more so excited and super looking forward to it!
Congratulations and good luck!!!
Just moved from nyc to LA this week! So far so good. Don’t have many friends here but planning on meeting through work and friends of friends
how do you approach friends of friends without being too forward?
When you get here, remember to not call it Cali
yeah, call it NorCal or socal or you'll never fit in.
but it is very easy to live in both of those areas when you are young
I live in LA. We can be friends.
I’m also 23 F looking at moving to the west coast! Probably Seattle and not Cali though.
Seattle is one of my all time favorite cities.
I had 2 friends who did this. One stayed, one came back. I think it's best to do this when you're young and it's easier to move around and find where you like best.
Check with your friends and see if they have any friends of friends in CA who are willing to connect.
Also, it was very hard staying in touch with my friends. We had to schedule times to call bc of work schedules and time difference.
I think it depends on the location. I moved from NYC to LA and then moved back to NYC after two years because I didn’t love LA
Yes, just moved to SF. It is going to be an adjustment to say the least.
I’m 23M considering the same. How do you meet new people lol
I’ve moved back and forth over the years. It’s different but I prefer Cali tbh, especially as a single female. If you’re thinking of either OC or SD I’m happy to give you recs on things to do, etc.
Friend of mine just did this. Didn’t know anyone. According to him, that’s part of the fun/adventure.
DM if you want to chat more! I really enjoyed moving and exploring a new area - definitely a fun adventure
Join the LA bowl. There’s a meet up happening soon
Sometime this month. Not set yet
@C - which place want to move to? Based on that you should negotiate your comp lol
I'm about to move from NYC to SF. But I went to undergrad and lived in socal before moving East
Yep. 3 years in asset management
If you’re based in Cali (😉) and work in Cali (🧐) it will be easier to meet people. If you leave Monday to Thursday it will be a struggle. I moved from NY to the SF and it’s difficult
Just a suggestion how about meeting up with the people who posted above that they just moved? You are all on the same boat...
23M moving from Seattle to SF soon and I'm slightly terrified about it.
Im moving to SF too! You'll be fine haha
Moved to SF a few years ago from the east coast (and moved a few times since - now back in SF). If you are thinking about it, I’d say go for it.
For me, when I’m in a routine in a familiar place, time seems to disappear. Literally years where I don’t remember what even happened other than “I was staffed at abc and xyz for a bit”.
Changing things up in my personal life every once in a while slows things down for me.
