The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling). It’s a fictional crime series. Three books are currently out, all of them are amazing.

like

The Circle - Dave Eggers. Not so distant future novel with some underlying relevancy to today’s society and how we rely on technology at the loss of privacy. I may make it sound nerdy but it has a very catchy story to it but still makes you think about your surroundings today. There’s also a movie with Emma Watson in it, but please read the book first; the movie cuts so much out and ruins the book’s major secret.

Girl Wash your Face. Be in a good place mentally when reading it. I tried reading it during busy season and it just stressed me out and made me feel incompetent to her life. I re-started yesterday and am more than halfway done. I think every chapter is a different part of where you might be also. It wasn’t until like page 60 I really was into it

The Devotion of Suspect X. I always feel sad that Americans generally do not read Japanese literature. This one is mind blowing. I had to close the book near the end for a bit before I could keep reading.

The Book Thief is my all-time favorite book. If you want light, cute stories, The Blue Castle and Flipped are pretty fun.

Nonfiction - for vacation, I really enjoy Carrie Fisher’s memoirs. Not great works of literature by any means, but she’s hilarious and I’ve laughed out loud plenty of times.

Principles by Ray Dalio, Millionaire Teacher, The Everything Store, The Myth of the Nice Girl, 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, Hit Refresh

Read? Get an app for audio book. So much better and you’re eyes would thank you 😉

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

FAR

The way of the kings. Storm light series. Super nerdy fiction but it’s fantastic

My father is an accredited investor and invests in private companies. I said I’d give him $50k for one of the investments but technically it’s all in his name. 3x return. Any way to touch that money without double taxation (expecting to pay his highest tax bracket on the returns since shorter than 1 year and then gift tax above $30k)? Thinking about asking him to put it in a separate bank account in his name linked to my credit card - but still likely too much money to burn through.

Left for industry a couple of months ago, with a decent TC of $400k. I thought this TC combined with great WLB is all I need to be happy.

Turns out, I am really bored. Lack of travel, and in person meetings coupled with not so interesting problems, is frustrating me.

What do you all do to keep things exciting on a weekly basis? For context, I am married with 1 toddler, so going out and partying until late is not an option.

Is boredom non-negotiable at this point in life?
