Any good books/resources for a 1st year commercial finance associate? I keep feeling like I’m thrown in the middle of deals and I don’t understand the big picture of what’s happening.

I suppose I’m looking for an overview of the life of a typical deal or something along those lines. I just want to find my footing a little faster. 3-months in I still feel pretty lost.

How many matters is typical for one associate to handle (BL lit)? I know it is group-specific, but just trying to get a general idea. I’m a 2nd year and I am the only associate staffed on about 30 cases-meaning I keep track of all deadlines, do all day to day assignments, keep on top of following up with client/OC, and all research/drafting. Partners handle deps/court but that is about it. Is this a normal case load to be responsible for as a jr? I being dramatic by thinking this is too much?
