Any good financial strategy books for someone with high financial literacy?

I’m frustrated by the “highly rated” books being antiquated - most of them mention pensions and commissions on trades, reading newspapers for picks, and that’s just outdated.

I’ve read the millionaire next door, think and grow rich, a random walk down Wall Street, the richest man in Babylon…

Anything Benjamin graham - intelligent investor, security analysis, etc. - for general but still technical stuff. Then I guess whatever specific books relate to the actual strategies / tools you want to use (value, options, etc.)?

Some of those books noted are more personal finance so they’re going to be more general.

Good financial strategy for the layman is very simple. Good financial strategy for financial professionals is intellectual property worth a lot of money. This is why I believe you will struggle to find an actually useful (have alpha) “high financial literacy” book.

They all have the same message. I stopped reading them. Best to follow Instagram accounts for more tangible and relevant info like : shewolfofwallstreet, forbetterorworth, millennialmoneyveteran, jaymillennial, personalfinanceclub, etc

Out of the list, Personal financeclub is def gen x, forbetterworth is too.

Nassim Taleb’s Incerto series is excellent

Hey! I have applied to an entry level investment associate in a venture capital firm in my country. As part of the process they will send me some real pitch decks and I will need to do 1-pager investment thesis for each one. I have never done that in the past. Can you please guide me? Is there a template or format I should use? Tips & things to be mindful of will be extremely helpful!

Had a talk with the partners Thursday, they said I’m not producing enough work at the end of each day. First year associate, new area of law, wfh so they are more “what are you doing every second”. They want me to start turning in a daily log (we are plaintiffs attorneys so no billing normally) any advice? While I appreciate their honesty, I feel like they consider me severely indebted to them that they hired me mid pandemic and “allow” me to work from home.

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Can anyone explain why a Roth would ever make sense given that income will likely be lower and therefore lower tax rate in retirement?
