Just finished The Choice by Dr Edith Eger, Holocaust survivor and currently a psychologist. Her amazing approach to life has really turned around my 2020 thinking. It's the most uplifting book I've read all year.

If you haven't read it, highly recommend. If you have, would love to hear your take.

The perfect scenario would be a multi week class that goes over advanced cooking techniques. Like stuff you may learn in culinary school but for people who just want to learn as a hobby. Any ideas?

I have to know… does everyone go straight from memory on coding interviews? I just completed one today with no references, and totally inverted a couple parameters on language specific functions I called. I did note the expected result and some brief reasoning.

How do you feel about getting homework for jobs?

We're altering our interview process to eliminate a homework assignment we give to candidates. It's about 2 hours of varying difficulty questions.

The VP wants to replace it with a 1 hour pair programming exercise because he thinks experienced candidates won't bother with homework. A lot of my experienced colleagues would be fine with the homework as long as it was within reason.

What's the consensus? Homework or nah?

Hello Everyone! It has been three months since we moved after 20+ years in New York City suburbs. We probably bought our home at the peak. However, we are so glad we did it. Austin is a fantastic place and has so much to offer. People are so friendly and interesting. Lot of things to see. We live in Steiner and you can’t really can’t go wrong with bee cave, west lake, Leander or any of these suburbs. I highly recommend a home with a view and going into the city. I’ve enjoyed, learned a lot but the stress has taken a toll on my health health. It’s a 7 month program that starts in December. I’m asking, would any of you who are in this field do the Bootcamp or would it be best to just go back to school for a Bachelor’s degree or a Masters in Data Analytics.
