Congrats OP! I’m right behind you on the queue
OP have you already got a job in Canada? Do you mind sharing what kind? I’m in the same H1b boat 🚣♀️
Thanks M1!
@SC1 - not yet, will start looking soon!
It’s really hard to get a decent paying job here in Canada with no Canadian work experience. Most companies have explicit policies requiring 1y+ of Canadian work experience for non-entry level jobs.
Even with a top Canadian MBA, people graduate making on average CAD$90k (US$75k), which is what analysts make in the US.
Your best shot is an internal transfer, probably taking a pay cut, then moving somewhere else after you get 1y of Canadian work experience under your belt .
Do Canada from within the firm. Easier if you can get a transfer. As others said it's hard to get a job in our line of work unless audit or IT. As for taxes its complicated aandplenty of shops in Canada do it. In a way the whole Canadian economy is US immigrant centric. Newcomer bank accounts. USD bank accounts, PO boxes to hold US merchandise shipments obsession about US in the press.
Etc etc. You won't miss a us beat.
God thank you for my green card! 🙏
