Any good registry hacks? Or discounts to save money for things I’ll need for me , baby or the house?

There is something called a completion discount for registries which I had never heard of so make sure to put tons of diapers and day to day items on your registry. Basically what that means is that if you have a bunch of items on your registry left at the end and you decide to buy them yourself, the company will give you something like a 10% discount on those items. Amazon def does this, not sure about others

Diapers are a better deal through subscribe and save but you still get the completion discount on amazon for like nursery furniture, car seats and stuff, which adds up.

I got all my baby stuff from baby consignment store. Dirt cheap and you will only need it few months. Or buy used from OfferUp.

Don’t forget you can consider getting second hand stuff (clothes, if nothing else). Lots of baby stuff are used or worn very gently or for only a short period of time since they outgrow them so quickly.

Moms, need some advice. Husband and I have decided to try to get pregnant. I love the thought of having a baby but there is this nagging anxiety about life changing drastically & the thought of how good of a mom I will be. I don’t take well to big changes in life so knowing this is going to be physically & emotionally different is worrying me. Anyone been through this?

Need advice. My mom has graciously offered to be full-time grandma daycare as I return to work. The problem is we have wildly different parenting styles and I really really want her to do it my way for a couple of the really important ones like nap schedules and feeding schedules. She flat out is ignoring me and we had a huge blowout fight where she pretty much said she didn't want to do this anymore. What should I do? Find a nanny that would do it my way? Or give in to my mom?

Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?

had a miscarriage recently and am having hard time not to think or worry about what happened. It’s been 3 weeks and my husband just yelled at me saying 1. I should be grateful for the kid I have 2. We didn’t plan so I can’t worry about it. 3. That he is done caring for our toddler in the mornings( he wakes up pretty early in the morning due to daylight savings) and i am unable to sleep at night, end up sleeping in the morning. Does anyone go to therapy for miscarriage? Does it help?

Returning to work and realizing that between the nearly 10 hours she is at daycare and driving to and from, I’m spending like 2-3 hours a day with my baby. Most of that is eating, taking a bath and getting ready for bed.. I’m feeling all the mom guilt for going back to work (not that we really had a choice since I’m the primary earner in our fam) on top of feeling like there is no way I’m going to succeed at work.. any advice or support on going back after your first mat leave? Im pretty down..

Pregnant with our first, we were so excited, we told my in-laws (incl my BIL and SIL) when we were 7 weeks. Found out two months later they decided to start trying and got prego too. So we’re due about 5 weeks apart. My MIL has a huge family that always throws baby showers. My MIL told them not to throw either me or my SIL a shower because we’re due so close to each other, don’t like each other, and she doesn’t want people to have to go to two showers. My mom died when I was little…

Been 2 weeks and I am tired of pumping. I only pump like 20-30 per session and 5x a time but each time it takes almost 1h from start to finish (lube the flange, gather the equipment, find a spot, find my water/food, pump, clean up and put stuff away) and I am not even washing them (hubby is doing that). What did you do to make it more efficient? Also I can't seem to figure my flange fitting. I follow the guidelines and the suggested one is more uncomfortable than a large size. Help.

I know I may sound like a total entitled bitch but I get so irritated with my in laws. I love them dearly but they always say they want to “help” with the baby - but that means that they watch her for 30 minutes and then if she fusses or needs a diaper change they hand her back to us. I’m okay with this except that they ALWAYS say they want to help. And then when they come here on the weekends we are furiously cleaning and cooking because that’s the only time we have. I told my husband (cont.)

I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.
