Do you think it’s overkill to send a sample of my work product (wiped of client info) to my interviewer? I interviewed last Friday and sent a thank you. It’s been 10 days, they’re still interviewing..
AMA making 140k total comp while working ~20 hours a week on a work from home project with a roll off date in 2021.
I love my client. They have been invaluable partners and have spoiled me, giving me prompt info, insight, timely decisions and kindness. Rolling off this week. It’s like saying good-bye to friends. 😢
Client site/hotel is 1/2 mile from college roommate's house (800 miles from where I live), who I only see 1-2x/year. Drinking golden monkey w/ him & his fiancee for 2nd time this week. Life is good.
Salary research: Client side Marketing Managers in the Boston or nearby, what do you make? I have 10 years of ad agency experience managing and negotiating campaigns of all kinds. Thinking $100k+.
People who like their current project - please share what you're doing to give me hope / reason to stay in consulting.
I feel like some SMs are brainwashed by the client. One I am working with doesn't like people leaving or wfh or going to the home office. Dude I gotta go catch up on my PD work.
Has anyone left Consulting for FAANGU and been happier with the work-life balance? On a shitty project, stuck long hours in a broom closet & I keep romanticizing a standing desk & sleeping in my bed.
A friend 🐠 was fired for accidentally sending confidential info to the wrong client and is worried about her chances of landing a new gig. How much should she tell the prospective employer about it?
🙌 Can I get some noise? Rolling off the project from hell and starting a vacation just before I do. Yes. Yes! Yes!! Somebody cue the Pharrell “Happy” music 🎶 💃 I’m outta here!! ✌️✈️🗺🍹
Why is it assumed PMs are responsible for scheduling all meetings and taking notes? When did this happen? I was responsible for providing a recap of meetings in the sense of next steps, not in depth notes on the conversation. As for scheduling meetings, I was responsible for scheduling the milestone meetings (kick offs, internal reviews, post mortems, status meetings that I led), I did not schedule the team reviews (CD reviews with ADs/CWs), client meetings, etc. Comments?
Had the opportunity to switch to a local project and after thinking through it realized how much money it would cost me and how much work it would be to maintain a place. Nice reality check
I did Keto before I even knew it was Keto. I was on a weird project, alone on-site with the whole team scattered, so I skipped dinner every day and worked out for two hours, woke up and had a giant carb-free breakfast and a spinach salad for lunch. I lost 40lbs before I rolled off... I remember my sweat smelling like ammonia all the time. I'm gonna get into a similar schedule... hopefully it melts off this time again - 10 years later!
I wish I was a client industry leader and worked on audit, tax, and advisory projects for the firm. In public accounting, we work so much in silos within one practice.
Got a client solutions role at Facebook but also a strategy & product analytics opp at NYT. If strategy & product is end goal, is NYT a better choice? Scared to give up FAANG
What is the general consensus on men wearing turtle necks under sport coats. Is it too casual for client meetings? Does the color play a factor?
Just as an idea, this new Lincoln Project ad is bananas. To make Trump the audience for an anti-Trump ad—to tell him to be MORE paranoid....to understand the thing he’d hate the most is other people making money, or looking good on TV....to try to make him eat himself from the inside....it’s kind of evil but so unexpected. Slicing an artery rather than swinging with a sledgehammer. https://youtu.be/bk6d4TgO2NY
What is the oddest thing you want to physically add to make the client site a little more tailored to your tastes? Exp: Buy those urinal screens that smell nice and add it to the favorite pisser.
New Zealand 🐠, American here interested in a role at Northpower in Whangarei. Any advice on how to make this happen considering Covid and being a foreign applicant?
Interview questions: it’s been a LONG time since I interviewed for a role. What’s a great question to ask the interviewer (besides the usual job specs and details)? I never know what to say...
Did you see this candidate comparison in NEAToday? https://educationvotes.nea.org/presidential-2020/biden-vs-trump/
I have five years big 4. Always did well bonus and promotion wise. In between I left for IT sales to make more money but being in Boston I would of had to move for better opportunities. Now I’m back in consulting and miss the freedom of sales. Anyone in my position? I felt this way before quarantine too. The SM on my project almost got divorced so she worked so much, then she said I realized it just my life. It’s just too unhealthy. Thoughts bowlers?
Has anyone rolled off a project due to poor leadership and mal intent from management? If so, how did you approach the topic?
Anyone took up to a year off from work and then went back to consulting? How did interviews go re: how the time was spent if it was time off related to family? Fyi not that I had a kid; other reasons
Been a lot of talk about layoffs on FB due to the current situation, however, interested to see how many people choose to leave after getting to experience so much time at home with family etc.
What is Deloitte's maternity leave like? Any salary insight for consultant level in their OT&T practice?
Can anyone tell me about the firm Janney? Like employee benefits, 401k match, health insurance options... anything??? Their is not much on the web about these guys..
Does anyone have any insight on working at Vmware? How the culture and how is the recruiting process?
Big 4 S&O BA in Canada right now, is it possible to lateral into MBB without MBA? At BA level or C?
Has anyone exited to a FAANG equivalent (uber, airbnb, Tencent) from Big4, then further exited into MBB? Interested in seeing if it’s a possibility
I am being flown out for an interview to a city my SO and I have never visited before. I really want him to have a chance to see it before I move us across the country. Any tips on how to handle this?
