I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

When a recruiter contacts you to say “your background is of interest to me” for “a role I have been contracted to fill”, have they actually been specifically contacted by the firm, and maybe should be treated more like a hiring manager who is truly evaluating you? Or are they simply matching you to some posting they can see online and trying to set up a recruiting relationship with you? Fine either way, just want to know.

One of my friend cleared his interview in Infosys and salary discussion already done. It's already 22 days running but no offer letter comes. HR is not picking up calls and no reply on mail communication. Shall he get the OL Or he got rejected?

May be a dumb question here but feel like I have to ask. I’m a 1st generation college grad, I come from a blue collar family, I went to a no name liberal arts school. After 1 YOE in government I worked my way into B4, now 3 years later interviewing at MBB.

Considering my background, will I be an outsider?

Have offers from McKinsey and BCG, having trouble deciding which one to go with. People who have had to make a similar decision, which one did you choose and why? I like McKinsey for the prestige/top quality people and I like BCG because everyone I met there seems to be super “nice”.

What is asked during the BCG online case and how does it differ from a live case?

I’m a sponsored MBA student with option to come back to my firm (Tier 2) at Manager/Project Leader level, but I’ve also received full time offer for MBB at post-MBA level (lower TC by >50K plus need to cover 80K USD for MBA). I may want to stay in consulting long-term, but also open to switching to tech at some point. Is there a strong reason to switch to MBB now, or does it make sense to work in my current firm for 2 years and then make lateral move to MBB at a more senior level?

Currently a first year manager within risk consulting and do have some strategy experience. Reached out twice in two weeks by different McKinsey recruiters for an EM role. Anyone done a similar switch and what would the learning curve look like?
