I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

17yoe in industry prior to joining consulting. It's not what you think it's going to be like, no matter the sales pitch. But that is like any other job really.
There's a grind you have to be comfortable doing, plenty of ppt decks to create, and a lot of ambiguity to deal with.
You're in competition with your peers for promotions and raises, don't expect a promo after you're first year, but aim for it in your second.
They're about generating revenue first and everything else second.
Politics is thick but you've got to play the games.
Figure out how the machinery of the firm quickly works before, and while, you're trying to change things so you don't get too frustrated.
Learn what it truly means to be a consultant, if you don't you'll get frustrated and get spat out in 1-2 years.
Network your arse off, you'll need it to progress, succeed, and move around the firm after you've joined.
There's a lot to learn, keep you're eyes peeled for those opportunities.
Revenue generating trumps training. Moist of your learning comes from on the job activities. You'll likely do work during training courses.
This is where networking can really benefit you in building your brand and reputation both within your team and in the broader group you belong to.
