Try some reverse mainstreaming. Have kids who are interested come in to engage with your students on a collaborative art project, reading, etc.
Any students with autism and intellectual disability needs a great deal of understanding! I would work with parents to determine what things or skills the student are able to do! Work with the student and what they can do! Build on those skills and develop consistency with the student! Build from there and take one day at a time! I hope this helps!
Our kids with autism are mainstreamed into general education classes whenever absolutely possible with teacher aide support as needed.
That’s all we get at middle school. I think schools know they need at least one class and that’s always the one.
Here the rule is least restrictive or 80/20 so at least 20% of time in mainstream classes. Usually PE , Art , Drama . Although as an ELD I frequently take in Autistic students mostly with an aide. EL are struggling with language so sometimes a win win. Grades are social grades.

Even the art clase, some of my students do not last more than 15 minutes.
