Any in-house folks source their own pro bono work? I'm about to leave biglaw to join a startup, and would like to continue doing pro bono legal work. I know some companies have established pro bono relationships, but mine does not. Anyone have any experience sourcing pro bono work on their own?

Transition to Consulting? Going to have 2-3 competing jobs offers that I need to make a decision by the end of the week on.

I am 3 years out of school with a Bch of ChemEng. I have found myself in the Clinical Trial Supply space as a Systems Analyst.

I can either stay in Big Pharma (probably for most $, suburbs) and expand past just Systems expertise or go into Life Science Consulting (get to work in NYC) and broaden my LS base.

If I don’t do consulting now will it hurt me in the future?

Hi team, can any one help with the salary hike provided by companies for the BA associates with having nearly 2 yrs of exp?

My husband follows Qanon and believes every conspiracy theory there is. He was completely normal until 2 years ago. I don’t know what to do, he will not agree to a divorce, or to sell the house and separate. I’m in final rounds for an in house position, but it’s mostly contract work. I’m coming from a lit background, so some contract work, but not drafting and red lining. What are the most practical guides/resources to brush up with.

Been in house for about a year. I just found out that a new hire who has 1-2 less years of experience than me (but will have the same role/title as me) received a compensation package significantly higher than me, mostly due to the market dynamics with law firm associates’ compensation being ratcheted up the past year. Can I ask for an equitable raise mid year? And if so, how? I got rave reviews but an immaterial pay bump (3%) at year end in December.

Waiting to hear from an in house job and received another offer from a firm - it seems highly likely that the in house job will give an offer but would it be acceptable to reach out and inform them of this pending offer to gauge their timeline? At a biglaw firm now, in the final round for a FAANG product counsel role. I just learned that one of the partners at the firm is involved in a big case adverse to the company I’m interviewing at. I have not worked on the case. Do companies run conflicts checks, do ethical walls, etc.? Could this be a problem if I get an offer?

Had two initial interviews for a litigation counsel job with two large companies in the last few weeks, got rejected by both companies…. I’m well qualified for one job (interviewed with the litigation group), a little under qualified for the other (interviewed with the HR). I have 5 YOE. Well-traveled people: what seem like the best major market cities to live in with access to great in-house jobs (FAANG, adjacent companies, etc.). Some markets seem like really fun places to live but seem insanely expensive (San Fran, DC). Others seem like great comp to cost of living ratios but you seem like you’d basically be in a boring suburb (Raleigh, etc.) or have major drawbacks (arctic weather in Chicago, etc.). Maybe I’m totally off base though. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

I have 5 YOE in big law as an environmental attorney. I’m hoping to make a move in-house soon, but I don’t see in-house environmental positions come up very often. Any tips on what I should be looking for/where to look? I check Indeed constantly but so far I’ve only seen a handful of relevant positions.

If I was a second or third choice candidate for a role, and ultimately got an offer, is it fair game to inquire with the recruiter as to why the initial candidates declined? And should this fact weigh into my decision process?

How do stock grants and refreshers work at FAANG and other big companies?

If an offer includes $160k in equity over 4 years, you would get $40k per year, right? Do companies give a refresher each year, so that the second year, you might get $40k from your first grant and another $40k from your second grant? Are people making 4x the equity their 4th year in house if they get a refresher every year?
