I know I have to put some work in to get transactional under my belt, but would it be worth getting a pharma MBA and spring-boarding from there? Or just look for firms with healthcare regulation?

Does anyone else think the RSU comp structure is a disincentive to work to your full potential? I know, for example, that my base comp is maxed out so my only raises will be through additional RSUs. They only grant new RSUs once per year and do it for years out in the future. So, for this year’s comp cycle, I got RSUs that won’t vest until 2023. Yeah, who cares? Who knows if I will even work here by then. There is no relatable tie in between performance and comp.

I’m rounding out my second year as a litigation associate at a top-tier regional firm in a part of the country where there are no big law offices. My firm has ~90 lawyers, and we’ve lost 6 since December, 5 of which are women.

This mass exodus has me considering a career jump. I have an opportunity to go in-house at a Fortune 500 doing work I think I’d LOVE. Are there any drawbacks to going in-house this early in my career?

Im grateful. My job isn’t perfect, but I genuinely feel grateful to have landed in-house (after being partner at one regional firm my entire pro life before that), particularly when I read what others post about their day to day. I’ve never had nearly as much career satisfaction as I have since the switch, and I recognize how few quality in-house gigs there really are (even if we have some lunatics within our department (just as I did back in firm life)). That’s it. Just grateful.
