Any in-house recruiters that work with juniors or even someone who could just apply to in-house jobs for you? I’m too busy to look but really want to leave

You’re better off just applying directly. A lot of times all you need to do is submit your resume through LinkedIn. If you have time to be on fishbowl you have time to send your resume out.

Recruiters will just string you along and then recommend you lateral and try to send your resume to firms

In my experience most companies do not work with recruiters for in house positions. The job posts will say “no recruiters please.” If you want to leave you need to make that a priority. Block time off on your calendar to apply to jobs. I would say look every couple of days at least because hundreds of people can apply to a good position and you want to be an early applicant because at some point the internal recruiters will just stop reviewing and submitting new resumes.

Advice needed! Investing gurus, I need some guidance on my current situation. Last Nov I pulled most of my non-retirement accounts out of the stock market. Since then I've mostly just been saving cash due to being conservative about the economy and wanting potential flexibility to buy property. At this point though I have a solid $90k liquid and it's making me nervous that it's just sitting there. What should I do??

Is anyone on a low dose of Adderall or a similar stimulant, and do you find it helpful/effective?

When I was diagnosed (at 20 yo) I started on Adderall XR and my psychiatrist essentially took a “keep upping the dose until you feel side effects” approach, even though I still saw some benefits at a lower dose. I’m currently unmedicated and am somewhat hesitant to restart, but feel I could see some benefit and better stability with the help of medication.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

How soon is too soon to switch jobs? I went in-house a year ago, after five years as a MidLaw litigator. I always aim to stay at a job for at least two years, and not to move until it’s necessary; I also wanted to stay in this job for awhile as I’m still learning how to be in-house and have lots to grow. But the culture is poor and pay is average. Does it look bad to leave after 1/1.5 years? Is the stink of such a departure significantly lessened at the two year mark? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if you have to negotiate an automatic 3-4% increase in salary every year for inflation, etc. when getting an in-house position? Or is that fairly standard for most companies and HR just handles that internally at the start of every year?

I'm an in-house counsel at a national company. Our GC is leaving. I’m the only other in-house attorney, and I’ve only been here for 4 months. I like the job. Previously, I was a 6th-year associate.
The CEO asked me to stay and implied a larger role, but doesn't have a clear picture of what that looks like. Asked for my help in redefining. Even unsure as to timing or whether we'll hire another GC. Questions for Fishbowl: (1) benefits or pitfalls? (2) questions or requests you'd have for CEO?

For those of you who work in-house at smaller organizations (100 or so employees), how does your company manage all of its docs? My employer is a service-based organization and all of our docs (everything from Finance to HR to Marketing to customer contracts) are just “organized” into hundreds of folders on a server. Although only execs can access things like financial reports and HR files, surely there’s a better way of organizing the thousands of docs.

Anyone work in an open office environment? I actually like going to the office a couple days per week but I'm at a start up-ish and floors are open seating. only a couple of offices that are reserved for execs.

I sounded the horn that I'm not comfortable giving advice in a cube or shared table. nobody really cares since I am able to WFH whenever I want

Do others work on open floors? I don't want to rock the boat as a new person or fail using the lawyer card again. how do you make it work?
