Joining Accenture as a lateral MD next month. Any inputs on how to build network and connect with fellow MDs, especially in a remote setup? Are people open to collaborate with “outsiders” at a senior level, or should I expect friction with people protecting their turf and sticking to their own connections? INDUSTRY VS CONSULTING COMPARISON THREAD

Joining Industry has been pretty interesting. I’d love to hear about the little nuances you’ve noticed after making the switch.

I’ll go first:
- The concept of a “boss” is very real. This person is largely responsible for your career, knows your salary, and has influence in things like internal transfers
- The idea of working FOR your boss is also new
- No time sheets or utilization
- Decks and presentation skills are way less polished

Currently I build web applications using a no-code software. I majored in finance and have an interest in tech, however I know I don’t want to have software-specific career in the long-term. How can I leverage my skills to pivot when I decide the time has come?

Have been a L5 PgM at Amazon for one-year and thinking about opportunities to boomerang back at a higher level later on.

Concern on going to another FAANG is getting de-leveled/starting over. L5 is nebulous middle management, and it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle.
