It’s a great place to grow. Lots of opportunity relative to the Canadian market. Nice people doing good work. Not a lot of politics compared to other places like john st. If you’re in that market and looking to make some solid work with reasonable work life balance, it’s probably your best bet.
Can you explain the politics at John st?
I'd agree with all the above, except the work life balance.
I have friends that do/did work there, and just cuz Aaron goes home at 6, doesn't mean all the creatives do. It's not bad. Not like what you hear about Zulu and Cossette. But not really any better than any other top tier agency in the city.
That’s pretty cool they were receptive to that. Were you a CD at the time? Also, I’m perfectly fine with working lots of hours, but like I said in a previous post, my current agency has been non-stop overtime for most of 2019. It’s starting to wear me down, as it would anyone.
What do you want to know?
A few things: What’s the culture like, are people getting along, are the hours reasonable (my current agency never slows down), are there good mentors, etc. Any info would be appreciated!
The podcast they have running always paints them in a great light.
Yeah it’s great, probably my favourite industry podcast atm
I was coming in as a senior, from a similar environment at my previous agency to what you’re describing. Long, unappreciated hours. Year after year. When my partner and I moved to rethink and set those boundaries, not only were we happier, the work got better and our confidence grew.
