I see them leave rather than becoming partners. That’s an outsider view of small city office of theirs
Feel free to PM me! At a mid market location at JL.
This is generally very office specific. I am in a smaller office and get paid less than other offices within the same state. I do not have much work life balance and find the smaller office is far less organized. No 401k match and I agree with the comment above about people leaving before becoming partner. There is a lot of turnover. That said, the volume helps you learn a lot very quickly, associates are given a fair amount of autonomy as compared to other firms, and it’s a good name on your resume for the LE space. I do find the people very collegial, and there are great resources (such as trainings on conducting deps., subject matter updates, etc.) billables are 1850 with 50 as credits for training/pro bono, and they just gave raises across the board. Unlimited vacation and no one has ever given me an issue about taking it.
I’m a JL associate in a small office, and things def vary from office to office, but I think Associate 1’s summary was pretty accurate. I think associates do most often leave (for various reasons, but most often lack of work life balance combined with low pay) but there seems to be good opportunity for partnership for those who stay
