MTO is about as prestigious as you can get in LA biglaw (aside from some of the lit boutiques). It also reportedly has a great culture. Although, I’d be cautious of the “reasonable hours statements” —- that’s entirely subjective, and I’ve heard of some people leaving because they were sick of high billables.
Also, not to be discouraging, but you might need more than a regular ol’ clerkship to be hired. MTO regularly hires 9th Circuit clerks (many with prior district court clerkships), or very prestigious ND Cal, CD Cal, SDNY district court clerkships. But if you can land an offer, I would definitely take it! Even if you don’t like it, you can go pretty much anywhere else after.

Those districts in general will certainly go farther than any other district, but there are definitely particular judges whose former clerks are well represented at MTO. Just look at the litigation associate bios for MTO’s LA and SF offices and you will see.
It’s good
That’s great! I’m glad to hear that. I’m currently clerking after having done a year in big law. I’m considering options for after clerking and know MTO likes to hire clerks.

Actually, it’s even easier to just go to MTO.com/careers/judicial-clerks
It lists every MTO who clerked and the judge they clerked for. You’ll see who is an MTO feeder.

Literally the smartest lawyers in LA. But not really great at business development or EQ. In other words, don't expect a clear path to partnership.
