I recently received an offer from a non-FAANG tech company for a Data Analyst IV position. The total comp (salary+bonus+rsu) is pretty competitive averaging about 210k for the first 4 years. The salary piece (121k) is a bit below the median for the Chicago area (128k). I have never been a good negotiator and really like the company. Should I try to negotiate the salary or just accept the offer? Any advice to being a good negotiator?

Might be a long shot, but wanted to see if this bowl could share any wisdom/insight. A friend has been offered a role as an independent contractor commercial counsel for a pre IPO tech company in NYC (roughly 10-20 hrs/wk) with the possibility of becoming a full time offer. He has roughly 3 yoe and was at a V10 firm doing tech transactions work but took time off for health. I was interviewing someone this morning for an admin assistant position on my team.

The only question they asked me was how our org was planning to account for the anticipated inflation (~3-4%) (key word: anticipated). I told the candidate that as of right now that sits with our CFO.

Anyone else get this question? Anyone have a legitimate answer? Also curious if firms are doing things in anticipation of inflation & what that would be. Never really thought of it honestly.
