I’m a 2nd yr. in M&A (if relevant: I’m billing on average 176 hrs, lowest month was 144, highest was 281, not getting paid market about 20-30k below). I’m considering a lateral move to Latham. Would love insight on the M&A group and the NY office as a whole, specifically culture but any insight or advice is appreciated.

I’ve read that firms sometimes just want you to stop working same day even if you give two weeks notice. Is this typical/do they pay you for the full weeks?

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.
