Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Should I get a job offer before applying to day 1 CPT or apply for the visa first and then start looking for jobs?
Hey everyone, I have been trying to break into the data science world as a strategy consultant. Have put in numerous hours after work and on weekends to learn programming/ DS and algorithms, ML, and statistics. I now have a pretty good resume of personal projects, but am having trouble getting any interviews. Should I go get an MS or keep on trying to find a job as a data scientist? Thank you for the advice.
Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones? https://blog.shrm.org/blog/9-interesting-interview-questions-that-actually-reveal-a-lot-about-candidat
Used to clerk for a federal judge. Former judicial intern of judge just emailed me saying she’s interested in applying and would like to discuss my experience there? Am I allowed? I feel like I’ve never heard of people doing this. I can’t seem to think of a reason why I couldn’t speak to her but I feel like clerkships always have weird rules about them.
I was interviewing with an agency last year - it didn’t work out because they needed someone more senior but was an overall really positive process on both sides - I still really admire the agency and the work and am ready to leave my current agency - is it pointless to reach back out?
Hi, please assist with writing a motivation. I'm applying to study Software Development within the Company. So far this is what I wrote An opportunity has presented itself and I'm interested in embarking on a journey to study Software Development within the Company. Being given this opportunity to grow at work gives me confidence that I can achieve beyond my job description as a Generic Technician.
About when should I start prepping for interviews? I submitted H / S last week but havent been able to focus on interviews yet
Okay, I seriously love the group I’m in - audit. Very happy. Could do it for life. Genuinely. Interacting with another group (advisory) - they’ve really come to like me. I got an unsolicited interview
Is it normal for companies to schedule more rounds of interviews with you after the on-site?
Can anyone tell me about Deloitte’s DCE departmental culture? I am interviewing with them so any insight is appreciate...
Getting past phone screens but can’t seem to get passed phone interview. I feel like I’m a good fit for the jobs, but I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Any specific tips to work on interviewing?
Had two great phone interviews last week with A&M. They seemed impressed and I thought I would be on the next round. Haven’t heard from them since. Wonder if Corona had an impact...
Anyone had an interview with Stern as a reapplicant? I was admitted last year but couldn’t enroll due to personal issues so wondering if the interview might be different than the first one.
I can see so many ex MBB consultants in Meesho currently. Any idea why this is and if Meesho is a good exit from consulting? I have an interview scheduled but not really sure if I should go for it or not.
Have a interview with LinkedIn for Startegic Ops Manager. There internal consulting group. Has anyone interviewed with them? Do they give MBB level cases for the interview?
Been in IB ops for about ten years now in NYC and London. A start up from silicone valley called me up (7 hours of interview) to help design a margin system. Is tech better than banking?
So I’m getting recruited for a position at Deloitte where I meet maybe 25% of the requirements. Didn’t even do a phone screen, but got an email from the recruiter saying the team wants to meet me for an hour long interview. Has this happened to anyone before?
Haven't done this interview stuff in a while. Interviewing with Deloitte onsite soon, should you wear a suit during interview? Charcoal grey + white shirt + tie work?
I spoke to a Senior Manager earlier today and she told me they are looking to hire experienced and qualified candidates who have the below requirements: 1) Bachelor’s degree 2) CPA certification 3) 3-7 years of Accounting or Audit experience 100% remote. Then, post COVID traveling will vary. Please, if you meet the above requirements or know someone who does and is interested in joining Deloitte send me a private message. I will have you send your resume and I will forward to Senior Manager.
Hi fishes, I would like to know how it is working for PwC as a Data Analyst. Ofcourse its a big brand but would really like to know the WLB and work culture.
People are saying it’s rare to get covid if you’re vaccinated (most recently 1 in 1000 breakthrough cases for MA) but isn’t that directly attributable to far less testing done now? I can understand it’s rare to be at risk for hospitalization, but do we really know how many people are asymptomatic and still spreading?
Have an approved i140 and getting a promotion from Mgr to Snr. Mgr. Does it require any filings or adjustments with USCIS?
Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE? My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k. For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc. Thanks!
Hedge funders.. been in the industry for 3 bonuses so far without a down year. For my people that have been through a down year (not a get fired year), what happens to bonus? Is it 0?
Project Managers out there what are the tasks you do that you think can be automated. Gartner is predicting 80%
I sent in mail message to recruiter directly, and they do not get back. Is it because I’m not a good fit or most recruiters are laid off during this COVID-19? I mean, some positions seem like perfect fit for me.
Apologies if this has been asked already. I’m on a project with multiple locations - I’ll be based at one location but will need to make 2-3 day trips every other month to other sites. (Contd.)
2 YOE in financial services Corporate Strategy hoping to transition to tech, will be heading to an M7 MBA next year. Looking for a pre-MBA internship at a tech-driven startup before then - please let me know if you have any leads!
My boss loves to have every warm body possible in pitch meetings, even people who aren’t working on it. He will slack you out of the blue and expect you to drop everything to just sit there and make the team look “impressive.” Why are people like this? Don’t clients see right through it? Is it actually impressive to have 10+ people in the room if only half of them participate? 😑 it’s such a waste of everyone’s time.
How do you go about disclosing it to your partner/team if you’re jumping ship from one b4 to another? Don’t want to burn bridges
For strategists: Hardest interview question you’ve been asked. Go. (Please include your response!)
What happens if i485 is denied? Do I lose all benefits of i140 such as visa extensions and priority date?
Anyone have good WFH attire recommendations? I’m looking for something comfortable, vaguely professional waist up, joggers waist down, maybe accessories? Anything that has improved your lives attire wise since WFH started!
A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?
