Yes - it’s an issue unless he has a visa to work in the US.
Their company HQ is in Toronto.
For a us company or you mean working in la remotely
If former.. see above
I am assuming said person does not have or intend to get an employment authorization document and is notnotherwise authorized to work in the US. Upon arrival, They should def not disclose that the are coming to the US to work. If they are paid under the table, it shouldn’t be a major issue, but is still not advisable. So, yes, there are issues.

Noooo this is bad advice. Except your last sentence. Working without work authorization, under table or not, is a violation of status. Lying to a CBP officer is even worse.
At the sake of being non-legal and just a practical person…just go and work remote for the 2 weeks and don’t be super obvious about it?
Ahhh my bad, this person isn’t you :)

Hey OP, I’m an employment immigration attorney. Feel free to DM me.
The TN visa is an option, but I’m not sure how they’d qualify as a salesman. However, depending on type of product/service, it might be possible.
The L-1 might also be possible if they’ve been with company at least one year and can either be classified as manager/specialized knowledge.
Don’t advise him to lie to CBP. Don’t pay him under the table. Don’t let him come here and work without authorization. It could jeopardize his ability to come back, or if he ever decided to apply for a green card, even one day of unauthorized work could make him ineligible. As a company, you open yourself up to civil (and criminal!) liability for willingly employing someone without work authorization. Just no good all around for all parties.
Just sent you a PM
What specific non-immigrant visa would apply here? (Fintech salesman)
A TN visa is specifically for Canadian citizens. The candidate must meet certain criteria though depending on the occupation. You can google these criteria
that's BS. American jobs should be for American citizens
