A1: same. I’m a mess. How are you holding up?

I’m gonna have to take it July 2023….. 😞 I didn’t think I’d be having to take a second bar exam but oh well. That’s life.

Survey time: how often do you cry for work-related reasons (incl. stress, pressure, etc.)? 1) At least once per day, 2) at least once per week, 3) 2-3 times per month, 4) once per month, 5) once every few months, 6) I never cry for work-related reasons (good for you!)

Hi everyone, I’m an architectural designer (from Europe) with 1.5 yrs experience. I’m working for a practice in San Francisco, full-time from the office, getting 25 an hour. It is so expensive to live here, I am struggling to make things work. Is this a normal salary for someone of my experience or should I ask for a raise? I don’t want to be greedy but it’s so expensive out here… Thank you 🌈

I’m in L&E and want to develop business but am still in a spot where most people who reach out are old classmates likely looking for free legal advice (e.g., question about their employment agreement). How do you all respond to messages asking to set up a call?

For my latest email like this, my current plan is to respond asking for the parties’ names to run a soft conflicts check, and I was thinking about including my hourly rate to make it clear it’s not free. Any tips?

How much does the skills assessment weigh into Skadden’s selection process for summer students?

Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?

Why do recruiters insist on introductory meetings even when you say you aren’t looking? Do they think they can trick you into taking a position somewhere else? Or do they really think that intro meeting will mean that you come back to them in a couple of years to use them?

Just getting tired of saying no on the cold calls and them insisting on talking to me.

I am in a counsel role at an AmLaw 100 firm. Was contacted by a recruiter about a counsel position at a V50, but they want my law school transcript. I graduated from law school 17 years ago. Is this just about confirming I actually have a degree or are they actually going to look at my grades?

Can’t decide if I’m being ghosted by a partner or if I’m just reading into it. Had a good discussion about a matter that we wrapped up and then I went on vacation. Haven’t gotten a response back (have sent a few emails about staffing on new matters) from the partner in over a week and a half since then and they also haven’t stopped by my office which would typically happen once or twice a week. Thoughts?

I’m leaving employment litigation.

Most of these disputes are so petty and almost every case is about making up makeshift reasons for what would otherwise be wrongful termination.

You see people being fired where the actual reason is for instance hooking up with the CEO’s young female crush, or speaking up about issues in the workplace.

Even the most innocuous detail can be turned against an employee. Eating lunch at your desk can e.g. easily be labelled as being ‘uncooperative’.

I feel bad putting this all on my husband and how would I even have the energy to raise kids??
