Hey, also at kpmg here, also due in April, also on hdhp. Not sure what you mean by not covered, but essentially on the hdhp you pay for everything up until 5k oop max, and then they cover everything after that. Feel free to message me if you want to chat.

No. They’re pretty strict/firm in their policy. I also had a miscarriage snd the miscarriage related coverage is horrifically awful too. They make it seem like it’s ‘100%’ covered, but what they consider to qualify for that coverage is a very small portion of what you need as a pregnant patient.

Ultrasounds and bloodwork are diagnostic and not “prenatal” care. Not KPMG, but switched to a low deductible plan 1/1 for a March delivery and ended up saving a ton of money.

Pwc1 it’s so sad that’s something to even consider. Our healthcare system sucks. And relatively speaking we work for major companies with decent insurance. What about everyone else. It’s so sad 😞
Not KPMG but I'm on deloittes Hdhp plan with united Healthcare. I'm currently 21 weeks. It's been pretty expensive so far. For each visit that had an ultrasound as well, I was billed $480 or more if there was also a urine test or blood test. I've paid about $2800 so far and my deductible is $4800 that I'm not going to hit this year. It will reset in January and I won't hit it by the time the baby is due. I switched my plan for 2021 and will be on PPO instead and I'm due in March.
Ugh terrible timing, I'm sorry! I switched to the high deductible one because it blatantly says prenatal is covered 100%. I do think with delivery being so expensive I'll hit the out-of-pocket max on either plan and the high deductible one will be cheaper overall (I was on PPO at a different company with my first and definitely hit the max). Feels so discriminatory 😥
I am due in February and currently have a HDHP. I have decided to go on a PPO for the new year because Kaiser estimated that I will meet my deductible on a HDHP with a birth. After the birth I may switch back to HDHP, since it will be a 'life changing event', depending on how healthy the baby is. I don't know if this is the right course of action, but it's what I've planned for with the little understanding I have on healthcare plans :/

Don’t switch plans after the birth if you meet your deductible. Essentially all healthcare after you meet your deductible is free! If you switch, I don’t know if your deductible resets. Good question to ask your insurance before you switch.
Not on hdhp but also pregnant and due in April 😁
Please let me know if any of you are in NYC!
This is what happens when you are quarantined at home with your partners 😂
Update, they're not covering my 20 week one either. What a joke
I decided to stick with the HDHP. My husband and I wanted to be able to get more ultrasounds so having an HSA was the most cost effective. I have friends who have PPOs and they stated only the 20 week ultrasound is covered under the plan and they still ended up with a lot of out of pocket expenses.
I know it's cheaper overall but I thought at least one counted as medically necessary 🙄
