Making himself at home in my home office!

Favorite office chair?
Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Best office chair for under $300?
Best standing desk for home use?
Yes because I prefer my screens at eye level. For me, the biggest issue was not always being able to customize my workspace at the client site, which led to a lot of hunching over my laptop and squinting down at things. What really helped was buying a laptop stand and wireless keyboard / mouse. I like to get massages from a Chinese acupressure place at a local mall (unexpectedly a total gem AND affordable) about once a month. I also started doing yoga.
I like my screen to be at least that height as well, but sometimes a bit higher if I’m working on dense material with a small font size.
Yoga has helped me soooo much
Improving your core strength will help with back problems. Seconding yoga!
Have you seen a physician to get diagnosed? If it is chronic pain, that would be my suggestion.
Id suggest seeing an orthopedic surgeon to make sure you don’t have a dislocated disc or other spine problems. Most certainly would do an X-ray.
Chronic pain, especially in the back, is not anything to mess with or self treat.
Chinese massage, melt which you can do online with foam roller - promotes alignment and balance. Yoga and Pilates also great. Having done both, I find Pilates better. Take classes to get right alignment and then can do online classes. Doing yoga or Pilates solely online can lead to injury so I would strongly suggest a mix
Thank you!
Yes, when traveling I did. Monthly (or more frequent) trips to the chiropractor helped me. Good luck!!
Yeah. Running and swimming helps but the pain still persists especially on stressful days and when traveling.
For those that commented yoga, do you recommend any at home programs? Don’t have time for a studio unfortunately. Thanks in advance!
I foam roll multiple times a day and went to PT for a couple months previously
(1) go see a physician to clear out major issues. My only problem with allopathic medicine is the focus/protocol based on putting patches around the symptoms through medication vs understanding the root cause. Still, I do think it should be first step because there are certain conditions you need to rule out completely before contemplating the best path forward for you. Getting to the root cause of the issue is what takes time and dedication. Items (2) and (3) below are what helped me the most.
(2) seek Physical therapy, chiropractors, in addition to a good strengthening and stretching program. Supervised pilates and gyrotonic also come to mind.
(3) don’t sit for extended periods during consecutive days. That’s a perfect recipe for muscle imbalance causing back pain. Try a standing work station for a few hours ( i like to do mornings) and sit in the afternoon. Or alternate days of working standing vs seating
(4) make sure you have enough sleep and proper nutrition
Thank you!! Great tips
Back brace works wonders for me! Though its awkward to wear out (looks like a kardashian waist trainer 🙄)
Thank you M1!
