What devaluation?
Their peak- and off-season redemption rates are going into affect.
Instead of a certain category costing you a 60,000 points year round, it could now be 45,000 (low season) 60,000 (normal) or 75,000 (peak season).
Numbers above just for example.

Marriott is introducing peak and off-peak pricing. For example a Cat 8 hotel is 85k right now but at peak pricing it can to as high as 100k or as low as 70k. You can hedge some peak pricing stays right now.
I mean, it could also work in your favor if the property you want is on off-peak.
Was going to start a similar post as I'm also trying to book a big trip before the deval. Does it feel like they're blacking out award availability on a lot of the higher-end seasonal properties? Sure does for the ones I'm looking at.
If you have a date in mind, wouldn’t it be beneficial to lock in the know rate now?
Then if it is “off peak” cancel and rebook. Then if it’s “peak”, keep your discounted rate
yes, obviously. The problem is it seems like Marriott is blacking out some higher-end properties for award redemptions. Can't confirm, but looks that way for the 4 properties I am considering at the moment.
Also the assumption is when you want to go to a place it will be during high demand, thus requiring the peak rate.
e.g. I'm looking at places in the Mediterranean. I obviously don't care about going there in February when they offer the non-peak rate so I'm banking on it requiring Peak during the only desirable summer months
