Completely agree with you... Unfortunately latinos/Hispanics do not fit the agenda of the current political landscape so we are often left out. My firm has an African American resource group, African American programs to ensure equality, Yada Yada... But nothing specifically geared towards being Hispanic. We are often the forgotten minority in the workplace.

New Latino partner here . I got a ton of support along the way

Elaborate? What makes you feel left out ? Are you involved in HLN, recruiting ?

I just feel there hasn’t been any communication on how is KPMG going to help specifically Latinos during these times? But there has been a lot of communications for other targeted groups. Normally I wouldn’t even ask about something like this bc i understand how it sounds preferential / why should the firm help one group vs another but it seems that’s what’s being focused on

Will do! I’m in DC!

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to leave the consulting world but don't know where to start. I live in the DMV so everything is government and/government consulting. I'm looking for a place that has an international presence that will help me expand my world view. Also looking for a place where I feel that the intersection of my race and gender is a welcoming attribute....done with the microaggressive attitudes that leads to psychological torture the consulting world has to offer.

How do I reach more BIPOC designers? Let me start off by saying I identify as Latinx and I am not trying to tokenize anyone or to discriminate against white candidates. I’m looking to add to our design team and I’ve been really trying to add diversity to our company. Anytime we put out the word we’re looking for more senior design roles the majority of candidates are white males. I don’t want to shut talent out, I just want to make sure our opportunities are seen.

My husband suggested a gender reversal role play the other night (ie I (a female) dress in the traditionally masculine way and he dress as a woman) - he seemed really nervous suggesting it. In the same night he asked me to paint his nails with clear polish - is this him exploring his gender expression? How seriously do I take this? What can I do to support him if this is the case without making him feel threatened? Also, would appreciate any help in how to think about this myself as I want cont.

We spout gender equality, but often ask women to do things men don't get asked to do. From organizing lunches/events at work (pre-Rona), to babysitting our siblings because we are girls with motherly insticts. It is generally expected that women do certain things that are "for the good of the community" which is just unpaid work for no praise. Let's change this. Let's start the change at home and it will translate elsewhere If you won't ask your son to do it, don't ask your daughter to do it.

I’m a woman in my mid 20s and constantly face situations where people outside of cyber (still within the company) that I’m dealing with (older men in particular) who always push back against my cyber/technical recommendations even with managers cc’d. I studied, earned certs, and worked hard to get to where I am. Is it bc of my gender and age? In all honesty, I’ve written recommendations that male counterparts voiced in the past that had ZERO pushbacks.

At my new job, we’re told to get 8 billable hours of work a day on our timesheet. Even when I thought I had a lot to work on, the most I could get was 5 hours.
