How do you stop overthinking ? I’ve been overthinking the same topics over and over for months and I barely realize how bad it became.
I try to distract myself and keep myself busy but it’s difficult to me to stop overthinking, it became a really bad habit when I’m by myself. I’m also by nature a very stressed out / anxious person. I usually feel better when I’m around people, but Im the kind of person who can get into their thoughts very easily during a party, event or whatever.

I like brown shoes with my suits. I would only wear black shoes if I'm wearing a black or super dark almost black suit. Black shoes look stuffy to me. I try to avoid wearing them. Anyone else feel this way?

For those of you in commercial real estate groups at big firms, what do your hours usually look like? How frequently are you working nights & weekends? I’m at a midsize firm and, since the timing of my deals is pretty predictable, I work long hours during the week but can usually avoid a lot of weekend work (until closing week). I’m entertaining some interview offers from bigger firms and wondering how anomalous my current experience is (4th associate, for reference).

Looking into commercial real estate investments in a smaller market. What are typical terms payment terms between equity and management? I assessed a deal way back and the pitch was:

* 95% to equity (5% to manager) until 100% equity paid back.
* 50% to equity (50% to manager) until 150% of equity paid pack back
* 40% to equity (60% to manager) thereafter until sold.

This was theoretically a friendly transaction.

Any thoughts on whether the terms were friendly and general market terms?

I was offered a good base salary and I was asked what type of structure I was looking for. I am uncertain as to what is considered standard or what to look for in terms of bonus/commission structure. I’m a newly licensed atty. I took my first job as a prosecutor to get litigation experience about 3 mths ago bc I wasn’t seeing a lot of entry-level RE atty positions. Now I see a ton of them. Thoughts on switching out of my current position so quickly? Are we thinking these jobs are temporary in that the housing market may crash like 2008? And is it the newest ppl at the chopping block?

I want to get into Real Estate Law - as a NY attorney I know it should be relatively easy to get my real estate brokers license and I’m also considering a 1 year LLM in Real estate law, is the LLM worth it or should I just continue applying to real estate attorney jobs?

Looking to take on HOA/COA pre-lien and lien work. Anyone have any insight on such? I believe I would basically be in-house counsel for the Associations, right? Sending out violation notices, pre-lien/lien notices, implementing the liens, etc. Any advice/insight would be very helpful and appreciated !

I really want to do asset management or operations of real estate. I’ve been applying to in house jobs and hope to make the transition down the road. I got a lot of interviews, first round, second round, but I just couldn’t get an offer. Most of these jobs want someone with significant leasing experience which I lack (my group doesn’t do this). I’ve been giving the speech that I know how to do leasing but it’s just not my main focus of my current job, but no one is buying it. So what to do??

Current UCC-1 filed securing “all assets of debtor” in 2019. Why is it necessary to file a new UCC-1 at closing securing the exact same collateral?

What kills me about this practice is the percentage of things that are done just because of inertia. “We do it this way because we’ve always done it this way.” It makes the learning curve so much steeper because you spend so long trying to figure out what actually matters vs. someone’s preferences presented as the rules.
