Big 4 FDD or A&M FDD for coming out of college?
Same boat. Started KPMG when my kids were 2 and 6 months. Obviously, there were times when I worked long hours before and didn’t get a chance to spend quality time with the family during the week, but nothing has compared to this past year. My oldest is now 6 and he tells his classmates that my dad works 24/7 like a slave.
I have been working 60+ hours a week for the past year. No off weeks, except the week I came back from a vacation I only worked 40 while ramping back up.
Sr manager in Corp dev here. Had my kid as manager while in Big 4. That was slightly difficult to manage but my wife had a more flexible schedule so she helped fill in a lot. Now that I'm in corporate, its more flexible unless I'm traveling for deals. But I literally try to squeeze out every ounce of time to help around the house and spend time with the kid.
Nobody tells you this, but house chores quadruple with a kid around. So much dirty clothes, dirty dishes, mess to clean up, food to cook. Yikes! I feel you. Just gotta get through it. The older the get, the easier it gets. My 3 year old can now go to bathroom on his own, eat on his own and play by himself for a while.
Just hang in there!
I generally have a hard stop at 5:30/6 pm and spend time with kids until they are in bed by 8. I sign on afterwards to finish my work. I don’t know your level, but you have to draw boundaries for yourself, your kids, and your job. I’m more efficient and focused knowing I have an end time and a break to refresh.
I just do it. It’s literally a 1-2 hour break.
years on end.
Have a 2 and 3 year old send help plz. 😅

It all happens so fast that it's tough to remember.
Yes, 2's were bad with one kid. Maybe the second one is a buddy with the first and they work it out.
