I hear transitioning at the M/EM level at MBB & OW is a nightmare. Is it the same for S& and EYP? Curious if it’s just this level where it is hard to switch firms.
*Post discusses infant loss* My daughter died soon after her birth earlier this summer. I took 2.5 months off and am back at work now. I’m doing ok being at work because we’re WFH. I can take breaks, I can wear fuzzy clothes, I can cry when I get a firm birth announcement without anyone seeing. We’re supposed to start back at the office soon and I don’t know how to manage that. My grief can be triggered in a million different ways. Any advice from your experiences? (also I am in counseling)
For people who have switched from Big4/Tier 2 consulting firms to MBB, what's the reason you made that switch? Also, how are you finding consulting at MBB better than your earlier consulting gigs? What according to you, is the selling point for the tier 1 consulting firms?
Hi ladies, would love your suggestions on this. How do you successfully network after joining a new company and are 100% remote (for now) ? Joining Deloitte HC, but would like input from others. TIA!
Would like to hear your suggestions on this. How do you successfully network after joining a new company and are 100% remote (for now) ? From my past experience, I've found that not all of us are welcoming nor helpful 😔. Joining Deloitte HC, but would like input from others. TIA!
Looking at you MBB & FAANG
Are many teams travelling again at MBB? Has your firm given any guidance about what to expect in the near future?
Confession - I don't want to go back to office. I'm happy working from home and find no solid reason in stepping back. I hope the flexi work culture allows permanent WFH - I don't have a "good enough" reason, but I don't want to go (isn't this good enough?) It's been 1.5 years now, too comfortable to step out from my PJs to jeans.
So google dropped a bunch of roles which are remote. Are these fully remote? The reason I ask is they are also showing the office locations for these roles.
We have a remote "happy hour" which my team keeps trying to get me to come to. It seems boring, do I have to?
Currently remote working from Santa Fe and I love it here. Anyone know what the scene is like for single people in their 30s as I know that the population skews older (like retirees)?
It seems like the work life balance at MBB is always described as horrendous. But how does Bain keep receiving the number one best place to work per glassdoor? Heck, they received an award for best places to work for parents. Are they paying for that ranking? Is Bain really not that bad? Just seems to be some conflicting info.
Why are Glassdoor reviews for MBB so high? There's a sizeable amount of consultants on this app that dislike their jobs.
Does anyone have experience or thoughts on pursuing Georgia Tech’s OMSCS while at MBB? Thinking of taking one course per semester while working.
Anyone else tired of the assumption that because you’re a partner you have to think a certain way and believe certain things. I’m talking about wokeness, work from home, and the recent ever constant pushing of the needle to the left or risk getting “cancelled”. I’m fairly liberal politically so for me to be saying this I think may say something for the current climate. I should be able to hold and express my own opinions without being quashed because I’m not “woke” enough.
Going to be starting a new job soon (in consulting) after a break when I adopted a dog. She is still learning and I don’t trust her to stay quite through all my meetings. Do you think this is going to be an issue? How can I best manage the situation while we’re WFH?
Starting fresh with a new job soon! What are some of your favorite tips to make a great first impression right off the bat in this remote world.
Answered a client email at 5am today even though I rolled off yesterday. You won't last in consulting unless you find satisfaction in helping truly deserving clients. #dedication
Hello! I’m preparing for an interview, and I’d like to know what are some really good purpose driven brands. Any thoughts? I’d really appreciate the help 😊
I’ve been going on interviews for product / owner and scrum master roles and the feedback I get “we feel you don’t have as much experience working with a team. For example, UX and QA.” I’m confused bc in my projects I had to do those roles (though they were smaller scale) How do I convince companies I’m capable?
Does anyone have recommendations on resume writers? I am getting very few interviews and starting to feel pretty discouraged. Any other advice or recommendations are welcome.
Does anyone here work at Cohn Reznick? How is the culture? How is the promotion track? I’ve been through 2 busy seasons as a senior so far. How likely is it I would make manager after 1 year coming from a different firm?
Is it mandatory to come to office post covid situation? I'm new to Deloitte. I want to understand WFH policy..can we do permanent work from home?
Anyone have any good educational materials for participants in a 401k that you provide education for? Thanks
Any good exiting opportunities for h1b holders?
Final interview coming up for EY SC position. I’m absolutely freaking out about the case and technical interview. I’ve never been good with case interviews and they stress me out. Any tips, suggestions, or pointers?
My project has nobody full time on it ( allocated under 25 hours) yet everyone is doing full time work and tight deadline. Is this normal? The client is also not responsive
Preparing for first summer in NYC. What’s acceptable business casual wear for men when it’s hot and humid? Are polos and slack fine, or is it still shirt and jacket?
I requested standing desk(with a Doctor's note), but was declined by HR and Office services, told it does not fit with their Hoteling policy. Anybody else went through this and can share thoughts.
I suck at powerpoint(getting better though), I'm so so at excel, decent at word. A bum when it comes to vizio. My work ethic is unmatched though, and I'm nice. Do people like this last at the firm?
About tired of the agency “life” thinking about going to the client side and being the one who gets catered to! I’m done babysitting unreasonable clients! How to make the jump, blights welcome.
Tips for lateral negotiation? Does the recruiter typically do it for you or are you expected to negotiate on your own. Not trying to negotiate salary (market) but other things.
Are manager health, dental, etc benefits firm paid usually? Ive always thought this to be the case, but ive never heard for sure. I know parking and cell phone is usually covered a lot of places.
How big / mature are IT Strategy practices at MBB? How does it differ from IT Strategy at big 4?
