Any moms who's kids have been diagnosed ADD (attention deficit kind)? I'm about to fill these forms for an assessment and would like to chat with someone who's gone through this and get some perspective

My girl is the Attention Deficit one not the Hyperactivity.
It's a struggle to get her to focus and remember things that she has to do. She's always in her own world and is so hard for her to manage little tasks.

My son was formally diagnosed with ADHD 6 years ago. He was on stimulants for the last couple of years, which I didn’t love but they did help. In September of 2019 he came down with alopecia areata (mild) but that prompted us to eliminate gluten from his diet completely. Alopecia is in remission and he has since been completely off stimulants. He’s in 9th grade now and just received one of his best report cards. Unsure if there’s a correlation but I might bet on it. Something to consider.

Me! My son is in 4th grade and has pretty bad ADHD.

I’m interested in hearing about your journey to getting an evaluation. My son is 7 and we are deciding whether or not to move to that step.

If you go to a psychologist for formal testing (beyond the initial questionnaire) they will administer additional testing that will pinpoint exactly where your child’s executive skills functioning weaknesses are. The tests are quite accurate. My son had them done twice, once at age 8 and again at 12. Results were consistent. Can be a little pricey but I very highly recommend.

My son has autism with ADHD as a comorbidity. If the ADD/ADHD is sever enough to interfere with school work, your child should qualify for a 504 plan for accommodations, or possibly an IEP, depending on your child's individual needs.

My 10 year old has ADHD. She was diagnosed in 3rd grade through her school psychologist. She didn’t quality for a 504 plan but frankly her ADHD got worse with time / harder to cope. She’s recently had outside testing and started non Stimulant medicine. It’s helping. I’m happy to chat if you want to PM me.

hi there! i have a kiddo with ADHD, currently with an IEP (state of california, if that helps too). happy to chat!

Not my kids, but I do!

My son was assessed in 1st grade by a psychologist. He was diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD, but without hyperactivity or impulse control. He's an extremely bright kid but couldn't stay on task for more than a few minutes. He spent a lot of time lost in his own imagination. Because his behavior wasn't disruptive, his doctor recommended we avoid medications and try other approaches first. We did a lot of homework and worked closely with his teachers to identify techniques to help him stay on task. Even so, we spent countless hours on homework on what should have been quick and easy assignments. Despite being so gifted, he did just "okay" in classes until 6th grade. 6th grade was a disaster and halfway through he was barely passing. Forgotten homework, lost assignments, no notes from class, etc. Then a wonderful teacher, also diagnosed with ADHD, worked with us and with him on coping mechanisms and organizational skills. He also showed tough love, set a high bar and held our son accountable. We did the same at home. The turn around was not immediate but with the right support and tools, my son gradually understood what he needed to do to manage his ADHD. Every year got better and by the time he finished high school he was in the top 25 of his graduating class. He is now 27, works in the tech industry and is doing very well. Dont lose heart! It is hard, hard, hard! But with lots of self education, love, patience and encouragement along with the help of specialists and teachers, your child can accomplish far more than you initially imagine is possible.

Both my sister and I have ADD and our mom sought diagnoses for us about twenty years ago, happy to help explain how it’s transitioned into adulthood if my personal experience can help!

Is anyone living on different floors with ~1 year old? Does it work, PROs, CONs? Our master bedroom is upstairs. There are two bedrooms downstairs so I always thought we’d use one of those rooms as our bedroom so we’re on the same floor with baby but it seems husband wants to stay upstairs. And he’s using one of the rooms downstairs as a home office. We bought this house so cannot move in the short term.

Any moms who really badly wanted a girl but ended up with a boy(s)? How do you feel now? Do you still want a girl? Would you try again? Does it matter really, or was it just in your head?

Had a difficult relationship with my mom growing up, so always wanted that closeness with my future daughter. FTM having a boy and a little disappointed, but feeling guilty for that too. Difficult pregnancy so likely won't have another. But I want a girl. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Please no woke left gender drama responses. Thanks.

I was in a position of leadership before being demoted earlier this year. It wasn’t called that, but I was given a different role and they hired someone to take my spot. My boss has since expressed regret for this decision calling it hasty on his end

I had access to all the things I was managing for months into my new role and discovered when they hired 5 new entry level positions, all got 45k (women) except one, who got a 60k (1man). The 60k man works on my team and is sort of awful.
