Searching for hobby suggestions/ideas. I’ve been struggling to focus lately and it’s been difficult for me to focus on my usual hobbies (reading, building an app side project etc). Ideally, looking for a hobby that can help with de-stressing and decompressing during my unwind time after logging off in the evenings; not something super strenuous. Thanks in advance!
Potential agency boomerang having a hard time making a decision to stay brand-side or go back. Need some advice! Do I leave the brand, being "the client," fun work, great WLB, as well as the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced and meh pay? Do I go back to agency lead a new team with significant responsibilities, forget about WLB, sell my soul alongside smart people, get great pay and benefits? PS: I'm a mom and brand-side for 5 years. What do I need to know!? Thank you!
A client based in Japan had sent us a list of some Japanese texts and their English translations at our request which we needed. SM: Copy all the Japanese texts and their translations from document that client sent into a new document and send it back to client (to whom it came from) and ask them if they are correct. Me: Why are we doing that? SM: Just to ensure that we have validation in an email that client sent these translations to us. Me: Facepalm 🤦🏻♂️
home office is in NY and have a client at jersey city (hudson county) which is the same MSA. was told i need an amendment..did i miss anything here?
Has anyone had a client (agency) just not pay? If so, what steps did you take to get them to do it? They were already late before COVID and now they’re just not responding. Any recos?
Slalom 🐠 (or other non-traveling consulting shops) - can you expense the commute to the client if the client’s office is farther away from your house then the slalom office? Any policy around this?
Looking to apply in slalom. 12 YOE with 8 in Agile Project/Program management. Can someone provide referral and help me decide what level I should aim for ? Roles just mention Agile Delivery Lead etc. Currently an SC at D
Coming from a big 4 - Can we mention the names of the clients we have worked with over the years when interviewing? I am at a boutique agency now working with some people who came from Accenture and some other consulting companies and I noticed that they will reference their clients by brand name. If it is a past project and you do not give any client sensitive information is it OK to share the names of the brands that you've worked with in your previous role? What's standard?
First stay at the St Regis. If they had these in all my project cities I'd be soooo happy...
Also, how many times do you receive an “urgent request” before the client goes on vacation? Here’s this important stuff I need done, but won’t be around to answer questions until 2 days before due.
Started at a new firm 3 months ago, first two months was swamped staffed on a huge deal, (my only file) did my hours everything good. July: deal was supposed to close did not due to regulatory stuff but my work stream is done and over and am now really really slow, asked for work to people I had worked with to help them close - nothing, staffed on a new deal , client on vacation so everything is on stand by. I’m freaking out don’t know how to reach to partners/senior associates (ctd in comments)
Wondering how freelance producers are doing in this climate. I was let go when a project ended. Have heard most agencies are trying to use staffers since clients are cutting way back
Desi ppl , struggling a bit with verbal communication since I moved to US. Sometimes can’t find words during client meeting so do a lot of ‘aaa’s , ‘Kind of’s and ‘sort of’. How can I improve it? I do watch English series a lot and read books but looking for other ideas that may have helped you all . Are there are classes which helps with fluency ?
BCG Fish. What is the main difference between coming in as a Project Lead and a Principal?
Looking at my project assignments like...
I have a final round interview for a non-investment role at a hedge fund in the NYC area. I was told I would be discussing comp with the founder of the fund. What kind of compensation can I expect going into the conversation? The firm has about 35 employees and $15bn AUM. Role is business development/client service associate and this would be my first full time role. I just want to have a general idea of what comp could/should be so I feel prepared to discuss
How are the international support projects in wipro? Like in terms of work culture and learning opportunities Any hope of onsite? Client name is Estre laurde company (ELC) Technology : SSIS, SQL YOE: 5.5 years
Any remote doc review positions out there for a JD (not admitted)? Helping out a friend who has exhausted the online search.
I’m burnt out on taxes; I wanted to do 10 returns a year, if that. Looking at an accounting manager position with KPMG, from the job description, looks like just accounting and financial reporting. Does anyone know if that is true. Also, how’s the culture at KPMG? Looking in the STL area.
Saw a post on women in consulting bowl about a kid saying hate you and some moms providing great suggestions. I didn’t have family growing up (grew up in an orphanage) - any books/ideas on how to
With all these talks about layoffs, do you guys have any advice for when that time comes (negotiations around benefits, pay, prolonging it, etc.)? -Hasn't happened to me but I'm curious
Hi ladies. I need some advice. I'm currently out on maternity leave, to return in about a month. I was just informed my male counterpart in my department will be getting a promotion by our new boss. This is really a slap in the face considering I've been trying to fight for equal pay since last year when I found out another (former) male counterpart of mine was making 40k more than me. What would you do in my situation? Demand to know why I wasn't considered? Leave?
Does it make sense to opt for pension if you're not going to stay in UK life-long? Are there different types of pensions (guessing some might pay my entire invested amount prematurely if I leave country unlike national insurance)?
I think I'm mentally checking out of work. All the pursuits I was leading (and which were building my case for promotion to manager) are falling through either because of clients having put everything on hold or because the requirements necessitating the work are being waived... my jaw has been locked now for 2 days 😬
I'm sick of these politicians and their empty campaign promises. I want my Badacaf-care now!
The apple update is such a public screwup. Somewhere a junior developer just got fired for it
Started about 8 months ago from another firm but already interviewing for industry roles. Is it worth sticking it out for a few more months? For more context, I have about 5 years exp, all consulting
I've received 2 offers to FAANG companies this year as Sr Product Mgr, got along brilliantly with the teams, but ultimately neither were willing to help process my visa in this climate. I know folks have it more rough, but feeling pretty bummed out.
Anyone else get sick of the “perception” game? I feel like I’m judged more by what I look like I’m doing than I do by what I actually output
What are some post MBA job opportunities for those looking to stay in healthcare? I’m aware of the leadership programs from big pharma, but haven’t seen too much else
I’d like to hear from partners on this, but when’s the best time to negotiate a raise? And how much do you think is too much to ask for?
I posted in the Healthcare bowl but didn’t get quality responses. PE is notorious for being difficult to break into unless you’re IB. However, there are success stories of consultants making it. Healthcare consulting is lucrative because it requires a very niche knowledge base that is honestly rather difficult to acquire. I’m wondering if that niche knowledge base would make it easier to exit to a healthcare-focused PE firm. Thoughts? Also, general tips for moving to PE would be helpful!
Considering pursuing FRM certification. Currently in FS and don’t have a background in business/finance (studied Econ). Would FRM help bridge the subject matter knowledge gap?
How does everyone show off concepts in their book that haven't been executed but still want to display?
Can anyone share your successful salary negotiation strategies for L6 product manager for Amazon? Seems like a very wide band. NY based
