Any Account supervisor roles open in NY?
If you are working freelance, and billing directly, then you are self employed. You need to report how many days you worked each week, but not the amount you earned. For each day worked you will forfeit a percentage of the weekly benefit.
Thanks CCO, this is really helpful.
What if you work for free? Do you report it?
No. You get the special employees of Gary V exemption
If I worked for free and there was no paper trail, then you can be sure I’m not declaring it. That is crazy. Are they trying to stop people volunteering or doing favors? Also that raises the question of what is defined as work. I think only report work that is actually proven. The DOL aren’t tapping your phone conversations or listening to your thoughts. They can only ask for official tax or employment forms.
Technically, if you work for any amount, even zero pay, you “worked” on that day. It doesn’t seem fair because you will lose your benefit for that day as a result. I don’t know why it’s set up that way, but I’m sure there is a rationale.
“Have you returned to work”? Is the weirder question.
