Question about tenants.. I have this inherited tenant who I am 90% sure are involved in some type of drugs scheme. The parents recently passed and they called each other “fiancée” and the adult daughter and her “fiancée” want to rent on their own. Long story short I’ve gotten them out of the house but then I was talking to a cousin of the estate and when I said fiancée and who was trying to live there he kind of chuckled and said I’m not even going to go there… Is fiancée code for something ??

What are the things you wish you knew when starting big law in NY? I’m lateraling to big law after working at a boutique firm in DC (5 attorneys). I’m a 2nd year associate but I’m starting out as a 1st year at the new firm because I had little litigation experience (and had no prob with that because the offer was solid and liked the idea of a smoother transition into big law). I’m very excited about the new job but also nervous about what to expect. Would appreciate all the advice I can get!
Hi all, just wondering - what are the best reasons to lateral? What do you risk by lateraling (if anything)?

2020 events have solidified my previous growing desire to get the hell out of biglaw and do something more fulfilling and meaningful with my life. Question is: how?
It’s hard to escape a job I’ve paid $$$ to get into, and that provides me with “security” (and deep insecurity) and pay, while simultaneously wrecking my mental (and physical health) and the Herculean task of finding alternative employment given the limited skills actually provided by biglaw (though maybe arguable).

Need advice: since I started my v10 a few months ago, i've has little time for my (little) kids. I have an offer to join another biglaw doing in-house (nonlegal) work (9-6, 5th yr salary). I am considering it, but only if this pace continues. I have a call scheduled with the managing partner who hired me tomorrow am. I asked to just schedule a "check in" call since he said I should do that if I need anything. I don't know what to say or how to approach it. Can I ask to be staffed on less deals?
