Yesss. Burnt, fried and toasted.
Same!
Perhaps the question is, “anyone already over this career?” I have a Master Degree, and I’ve taught for over 20 years. My wife has an Associate’s Degree as a registered nurse, and makes more money in one week than I do in a month! I’m not upset that she makes more money than me, but I’m wondering why anyone with less education makes so much more… My sister (who has no degree at all) works in safety for construction companies and makes even more than my wife (well into the 6 digits)!!! Now, someone without any college education is making more than my wife and I put together!!! I’m happy for my sister; however, this makes zero sense to me… She calls me all the time and says “I’ve got a job for you anytime you want!” Although I love teaching and inspiring our future leaders, serious consideration for an early retirement and possible career change has been going on the last 4 years! Covid-19 has hit our district extremely hard, and I’m tiring out quickly too… My wife is a traveling nurse, and she wants me to retire and travel with her… With the money she makes now, my paycheck looks like lunch money! I’ve never been so tempted to quit as I do now… LOL.
What are you waiting for?!! Can I have your sister's number?
If you’re just now over it, you’re tardy 😂😂
For me it’s not the pandemic, but the lack of oversight from the administration that truly recognizes the risks teachers face in and out the classroom. In my district emphasis is on the students while ignoring the needs of the educators and other support staff.
So true! We have consequences if we don’t do our jobs, but students don’t receive consequences for anything!
I wrote a discipline referral for the same student three days in a row.
Day 1: he left class to run around the hallways, I told the office to not bring him back, they brought him back, he started chasing students around my room with a cup of his spit.
Day 2: he was rolling around in top of the tables, he was jumping off of tables, he was standing on top of my bookshelves.
Day 3:: he called a student a bitch.
He has received zero consequences for any of these referrals.
Yes, I’m definitely over this year.
And don’t get me started on he student that said, “Fuck you” to me as he was leaving my class 15 minutes early without permission.
I have been over this school year since September...this year has been more exhausting than I ever could have imagined...😳
I was over it the first day back. Just trying to survive the remainder of this year.
Me too!
Yes, I will retire on June 2nd after 35 years in the profession…..Just too much…..
The idea of teaching in a different arena intrigues me. I really do love the interaction with the kids. That is the only thing keeping me from retiring right now.
I’m over society as a whole. 🤷🏻♂️
I've been over it for months!
I have suggested that we should have virtual classes at least once a month that way we won't forget how to do our lesson plan virtually the students won't forget how to log in virtually because covid does not look like it's going anywhere soon we're going into our second year covid
We are about to complete our second full year of COVID-19 and about to enter our third year.
Is summer here yet?

So over it…a two-day weekend is not enough time to recover.
If every day starts with: sitting in your car at 7:30am....staring at the school building.....blasting Metallica on the radio.....and trying to muster the courage to walk in is any indication of being over it, than YESSSSSS! I am over it!
Yes! We had 51 teachers out on Tues and 31 out on Fri for illness. Everyone is coming together to cover as many classes as we can but it's scary.
Where are you looking to transition?
So over it and we just got an extra week off for illness. 12 staff members in my building have quit this school year.
Yes so over this year!
Yes, I am. I had Covid twice this school the first time was the second week of school. The second time was recently upon returning back from winter break. Overall I had Covid four times. I love the group of students I am blessed to have 21-22 but I am so over this school year.
I’m so sorry you had COVID and so many times! Take great care!😔🙏🥰
Same here! Over it!!! I wish I could just say don’t come anymore to the ones who act out!
How can u teach when you are trying to keep a crazy child from purging a cup of spit o. People. How is that a conductive environment for 20+ other students.
I was over it back in September.
Frankly, I am over teaching. Never thought I'd say that, but over 26 years teaching has gone from fun to frustrating. Kids from nice, to jerks. Parents from helpful to A-holes. Schools from holding kids accountable to passing everybody and disciplining no one. One more year, if I don't pull the plug this year. I no longer encourage anyone to become a teacher. I tell them to seek other career paths.
We need you. Can you change campuses, districts, or grade levels? We still have some great kids and parents here, but it depends on where you live and work.
