Just interviewed for this job that sounds superficially good but I think will take me back to the work I did 10 years ago but will pay my target salary and will have a fancy title (VP). I don't really want to do this but I need a job, have run out of UI and don't want to deplete my savings to nothing waiting for the perfect job. If offered, should I take it and continue looking or will it look bad? Changed jobs within 1 year once already. At least this job would be spinnable for what I want.
Opinion: firms without lockstep comp advertise it as a benefit ("we reward merit!"), but actually do it so they don't have to broadcast that no one gets as much a raise as those with lockstep raises.
In the past year, I doubled my salary, achieved a lot of my short term goals (non-financial), but I've understandably been pretty exhausted. I know it shouldn't matter but I ran into my toxic ex-boyfriend's best friends (from 5 years ago), and boy it felt nice to see their faces in shock when they asked me what had been new 😅 petty, but reminded me of how far I had come since then and felt good to say aloud to them
Posted this on the consulting bowl, but here's a comp survey I made. Trying to get more responses from folks in industry (only a handful so far). Not a commercial venture; data is just my own curiosity and desire to do some light analysis. Pretty interested in what the cross tabs tell me https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGHoBn8qXfoS5SfcYUzxIMqscoFrLsKtk5oNYthQGCXHqmFw/viewform?usp=sf_link
EY what salary should I target coming in as a M in TSD- Banking and Capital Markets. 5 YOE in consulting coming from Deloitte. Any insight would be helpful.
Interviewed for Uber Strategy Manager- what a massive joke. Wouldn't tell me the comp on the first interview. Case studies are 3x the size of any other case study I've done for actual fortune 100 companies. And then interview with everyone and their mother, all who wax eloquent about my solutions. But then the last person gives me another case study to do. Towards the end, everyone and HR is giving me a verbal offer, telling me they're excited about me joining their team, I should join asap.
Sick of biglaw but I want to stay one more annual bonus season. I’m seriously burned out and would like to shift gears but I’d like to leave after ending my 5th year. I am potentially looking to just try and hide/keep my head low to avoid work as much as possible/“slack off” and wonder how possible is to do that for a year without getting fired? I aim to maximize vacay time, and just in general try to avoid any work I don’t absolutely have to do.
Has anyone exited from Management Consulting in KPMG to Microsoft Consulting services? Keen to hear of opinions primarily around quality of work, WLB, Pay, bonus and work culture. Any opinion/ view is greatly appreciated.
Folks, please help me to decide. Accenture 17.5 Fixed, 4.3 Joining Bonus. Synechron - 22 Fixed, 1.5 Joining Bonus. Should I negotiate with Accenture or Join Synechron ?
What's a good salary for a first year doing real estate transactions at a small firm (5 lawyers) in a major market? There's such limited data that it's hard to determine if I would be compensated fairly.
I hate the fact that when recruiters reach out they don’t say what the salary range is, virtual or in-person, weekly hour expectations, how big the accounting department is, or literally anything you would want to know before deciding whether an interview is worth your time.
Hello Fishes, An IT sales professional working in let's say TCS has been asked to relocate in SE ASIA , in that case - does TCS give some kinda monthly allowance to cover the expenses (rent, food etc.) apart from the regular salary in INR ? Your response would be highly appreciated Thanks!
Hey Fishes, Had a quick question what is the normal salary for a staff 3 in assurance in deloitte?
I’ve been offered a job (Cyber) in Fed Gov space. 20k salary increase , stock options. So you’re probably thinking what’s the problem? I’m afraid, but the alternative is, I don’t like my boss
Initial offer eval: Non-FAANG tech Sales ops/cust service ops $165k base $30k RSU at end of year 1 20% ote bonus Currently at 10 yoe, 169k base and up to 40k annual bonus depending on performance. Recruiter initially indicated 165k was max for my geo location (remote role). How should I counter?
Has anyone worked on Holidays lately? I remove the holiday code and added the client code. What happen to my 8 hours for holidays? Can I just use those hours later?
If you think an interview went poorly, should you acknowledge it in thank you email? Or is it better to not dwell on it?
Personal finance question - where should my money go first? 401k - half the limit Mortgage - 2.8% 3 months expense cash - want at least 8 Buy a car - lease is ending Furnish empty house
Hi everyone, I am a System Engineer at TCS with 4 years of experience in automation and functional testing in various domain. I have done PGP from IMT Ghaziabad through upgrad. Hi Fishes, Please help me decide from the below two roles : Deloitte USI - Another resource in a very long term internal project. EY India - I would be given the responsibility of basically building up an SAP vertical from almost the scratch, along side a client facing project. Renumeration is not a concern. 6 YOE, SAP Tech Consultancy.
Accenture HR: When a prospective employer runs a background check, does HR tell them reason for leaving (quit, fired, etc.) or just dates of employment? Was fired in September and wondering if I am required to tell them (upon asking why there’s a gap) if I was fired or just that I decided to leave.
How do you know when it’s time to throw in the towel and quit work and try to find something else? I haven’t been in my current position for long and am a new graduate but I feel terrible all the time but don’t want to admit that the last few years of my education/debt were all for nothing.
Will the inability to speak the local language fluently in a country like Germany or Japan definitely impact utilization negatively below manager level?
Got a consulting job offer from Deloitte and Kpmg. Can I reasonably negotiate remote work from home or is this just not going to happen despite covid?
Given the current scenario, seems like getting laid off is a very real possibility. What is the severance package like at EY, PwC, Deloitte? Just curious
Hey folks, my firm is giving us $1k to spend on professional development but I have to spend it by end of year. Any suggestions on where & how to spend it to better improve my chances of an MBA? Thanks! Potentially considering: public speaking, business courses, social impact conferences, French lessons, etc. Thank you!

Veteran | MBA candidate looking to pivot into D&I strategy. Thoughts on general HR vs diversity recruiting?
Help & suggestions please. I don’t have parents and recently had a kid. I am having trouble in recovery and my daughter is a preemie. I am going back to work in December but can’t send kid to daycare due to health. My aunt who raised me wants to visit and help me out , see places too. With the travel ban going away , can she get a visitor visa so that I have someone reliable in the house along with the new nanny. Are visitor visas possible to get now ? MIL is another option but she is aged.
All 5 interviewed pediatricians say they will be sending their kids back to school without hesitation. What do you all take from this? Does it change your mind on sending your kids back? https://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/5-pediatricians-on-the-safety-of-schools-amid-pandemic-87569477784
Potentially a dumb question, but for the employment history part of the application, should you include internships? If so, do you annualize the amount of your internship pay? I’ve included them in my resume but feels a little weird to put them at the same level as my first full time job.
