Have never been spoiled in my life. In fact, went through worst situations throughout my life. However, now that I'm working at EY, I found myself to have blue moods more often and struggle to find motivation going to work. This might be affecting my work quality too.
I really need help. Please advise.
I complain a lot about every little thing now and is so so lazy.
Just because you are grateful to have a job doesn’t make the job fun. Common fallacy that one must mean the other.
OP -- I don't mean to make light of your situation or life story -- and let me say -- so great that you could rise out of those circumstances. But, there is some dark humor in that not until you were at EY (somehow ranked a great place to work???)that your soul is literally being crushed.
Listen, I totally understand. I struggle too. I am using SSRI antidepressants to help (finding the right one has been a struggle for me).
This life isn't for everyone. I have golden handcuffs now and enjoy 65% of the job, I mean a lot -- but the admin side is killing me. I am supposed to be excited about LEADS and Mercury??? What? Excited?
If this helps -- you are not alone. So many of us are struggling.
You are wise to and definitely take a break - vaca for week. Find someone to talk with live - life coach or try Ey assist line
Thank you all for caring!
And thanks PwC for the writing correction. I always fall for that one! Lol :)
Took a long walk today, emailed one of my teams to take a long weekend mini vacation before the week of the 4th, and is definitely considering calling EY assist and finding a therapist to get the past miserableness out of mind and chest. Hoping to get back to normal energetic person at work rather than a lame member.
Best wishes to you all!
What staff level are you? Have you always felt this way when working? Or is it something that just started recently? It may be that you need to take a few days off just to recharge. I’m going through a similar situation where I feel miserable as well and don’t know what to do. Just try and take it one day at a time.
Have you had a vacation in a while? I’ve had that happen throughout my career normally means I need a break or need to try something new, done 3 or 4 different things in my career, none needed to leave the firm.
You need to find some purpose. Try volunteering and giving back to the community
All, thank you for responding with suggestions.
I'm a rising senior. Haven't felt as such before. Last time I took vacation was in mid November.
As for EY work breaking me, I don't think so. I honestly think ey is just the last straw that's breaking the camel's back. Have lost 2 of my family members in the war during my teen years. I'm usually positive and happy and now is thankful to have a supportive loving boyfriend and good/safe life. Sometimes I feel this recent laziness and lack of motivation is due to all of the accumulation of past years and definitely the rising work stress. Have never seen a life coach and is considering it.
Vacation sounds great actually. Though my schedule of full until November except for a couple weeks in July.
I'm seeking to learn other people's way of coping and/or getting over their laziness.
1) workout / do yoga something to help give you time to look after yourself 2) take the week of Fourth of July to relax and so something you enjoy and delete your email app that week so you can checkout from EY
Sound advice from EY5. No shame in finding an independent yet empathetic ear to help regain some solid footing. Don’t go it alone
Hey op just a tip it’s “AM so lazy” and “AM considering” (as in I AM, instead of I IS"
Vacation sounds good. Life coach sounds good. But I think you need grief therapy. Call EY Assist and find out how you can use the resources to find a counselor / therapist that is right for you. You've been through a lot. When you are finally free to stop running and enjoy life, your grief catches up with you. Pay tribute to your past, your lost loved ones by remembering them constructively in therapy. It can be hard to be the one that made it out.
Start working out or play a sport, make genuine friends at work so you want to goto work
I drink coffee when that happens to me
)
:) good luck!
Best of luck OP
