Should I partner with an AD who’s more junior than me but has a great attitude and could be mentored or look for a partner who’s at a similar senior level to start at a new agency? They’d prefer to hire a team so I’m thinking it through.

Every time I see a gig post that specifies “senior creatives (5-7 years experience)” I’m like, wut? Five years is barely mid-level IMO.

I’m 1 year into a job, and I was blindly matched with my partner. Nice person, but not who I’d choose if I had a choice. Is it ok if I go to resources and say “Hey, my partner is nice, but I’d love to occasionally get briefed on other projects with other partners as a tryout.”?? Basically not rushing a breakup, but putting out feelers. I just don’t want my career to be dictated by “We hired you, and they happened to need a partner at that time, so now you’re stuck together.”

I quit my second job last week. I was working in an environment that was more toxic than my agency job. Now the owner of the business wants me to call him and I’m not too sure what more to say. I feel upset that so many of our well-meaning clients can’t talk like real people do about subjects of basic empathy. I can’t believe that when a brand says something like “racism is bad” it’s considered an outlier. Hell, I even know racists who constantly tell me racism is bad.
