I was thinking of that Netflix documentary called Sour Grapes.
Was thinking to let them curate it and then asking for it all to be shipped to me. It will fill up my cellar and avoid the holding fees. The problem is selling it later I guess and avoid drinking it all 😂
Cool concept. Cant get over the 2.2-2.8% fees

It sounds delicious. Why don’t you try it and let us know how their selections work out? I would definitely be at risk of drinking my retirement away...
If we look at the baseline economics of best case scenario, futures wine trading should be generating 12.5% return from harvest to point of sale (so no storage costs if you sell in year). The 2-3% fee is not a huge issue IMO if these targets are reached, but reality is that this will depend on the strength of portfolio and access of the investor to producers (for example, in France there are very different buy/ access models region by region). Also market conditions are not hugely favourable- longer term trends that indicate less interest in higher end wines that generate the 12.5% return.
P1 I’m looking at it as both an investment and something I’ll enjoy. As long as it pays for my wine consumption of really good wine over the year I’m good. So I fully expect to consume 5-10% of it every year.
