Assistant a few times before I requested my title to be changed from legal analyst (I got the role before I passed the bar) to associate. He gives me minimal drafting assignments and a lot of project management. I feel like he doesn’t respect me, he isn’t very communicative about things he’s working on other than “I’m busy working on something- I’ll check (insert draft of what I’ve been working on) later”. It’s beyond frustrating. It’s a great place to get a foot in the door but I didnt choose to be a hundred k in debt to be a glorified assistant. How do I approach this?

An employee came to me in confidence to raise concern about a colleague of hers who speaks often about guns and how many he owns, etc. Based on what she's described, I don't believe this person has been threatened in any way, but it's clear that the situation is making her feel very uncomfortable - especially given recent events. What, if anything, can I or should I do to help? The company is on the smaller side, so there's really no option to move either employee to a different team.

I literally want to crawl in a hole/never work with the client again.

After an interview this morning, I sent out what was SUPPOSED to be a thank you email. I really should have stepped away from my desk and put my full attention towards it, but instead I rushed through it and am now realizing I didn't even THANK HIM FOR HIS TIME OR THE OPPORTUNITY! Ugh.

Does it come off as entitled as I think it does?

What is the funniest and/or most awkward Zoom moment you’ve had at work?

I worked at LinkedIn and one of the senior leaders was sharing screen during a meeting. The conversation shifted but the leader didn’t stop sharing screen. This person navigated to Yahoo news and clicked on an article filled with women in bikinis. This individual spent a solid 2-3 mins on the article scrolling and stopping to look at each woman. Needless to say this leader was very distracted by other things on our call.

A senior has just delegated a non-urgent monthly billing workstream to me (on a matter I was tangentially involved in). It’s about 5 hours of work a month but the problem is he harasses me incessantly for updates and seems to expect it to take priority over closings for partners etc. Is there a polite way to manage his expectations?

I work in a small company. My small sales team is amazing, I’m the first SDR, super happy with my managers and learning a lot.
The CEO though is always getting in the middle and micromanages me to exhaustion.

Why is he doing this? He always makes me doubt myself and I end up being super frustrated and not performing to my max.

Please save the tobacco hate. I smoke a cigar at least once a day. I grew up around the cigar (and rum) industry, so I genuinely appreciate it. It came out during a conversation with one of the partners in my practice group. He and I go to the same Cigar Lounge when I am not ordering from Cigars International. The Rum industry also came up (my ancestors were actual Rum Runners during prohibition.)

Nevertheless, he suggested that we meet up at our lounge for cigars. Thoughts?
