At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?
I want to try for a baby next year but am worried about the expense of a child, eps. living in Manhattan. Is it a thing to ask for a raise in this situation? (Cont.)
What is the best way to ask my boss about my trajectory towards a promotion? I did mediocre work last year and decent work this year. Hoping to kill it ASAP and get more responsibilities. MUCH THANKS
I am writing this here because I hope that maybe a woman can understand where I am coming from and what I should do. I joined Accenture January 2020 as a level 11, long story short, I talked to my CC about mid year promotion since January as well as my director. I learned on Friday I’m not up for promotion. My CC tells me because he didn’t see any client input feedback in the PA tool so he didn’t enter anything for promotion. My director tells me he thought I started with Accenture January 2021
I’m at the Promotion Day celebration at Park Grill (Chicago). I came because I needed to go to Office to return my old Laptop. It’s loud and crowded. I’m never in the Office so I don’t know anyone. :(
What are your recommendations for a gift for my best friend who just got a very big promotion in her job? She is 39, university professor, single, and lives in CA. She is into fitness and doesn't care for household items. Budget ~$200
Would you move from D to other Big 4 with only 20k raise (115 -> 135k)? Assuming you need to restart GC process from scratch a year after joining
What's the best way to ask for a raise? Getting paid 71k with a masters working in advisory 3 years exp
Does anyone know how/where to find market data for salaries? I’m a risk consultant in public accounting and am trying to find data to make a case that I should be paid more (my recent raise was disappointing).
Expecting a promotion coming soon. Want to buy a nice bottle. Suggestions are welcome! Here is my list so far that I’m thinking about. Redbreast 21 Hakushu 12 + Yamazaki 12 Any $300 ish Octomore
If you started working at a company for like a year as a staff level, for example 2019-present, and this is reflected on LinkedIn, do you guys update any promotions to show it as (the date or year of promotion) -present... or just show it as 2019-present? I’ve seen people do the latter more but is that even right?
A senior manager sent out an email to all of PwC about not being promoted. Blamed being black and not being born in the USA for it. However promotion is never guaranteed and becomes increasingly difficult the higher you go. Yet everyone wants to talk about race and inequality because this person was black. Seriously tired of the gymnastics people do to somehow relate it to color, instead of other factors.
What is the salary slab for consultant in ACN? I have been told by HR that my career path is a fast track promotion path from 9-->7 level as Manager.(yet to join as awaiting offer letter though) May i know what is the approximate years ACN is looking for manager level? tips/advise on dealing with difficult people, uninterested in their role but no current opportunities for a promotion, frequently on sick leave and constantly gossiping/spreading rumours
You started at a new role/company 2 months ago that is +50% your previous TC, a level promotion, and you’re happy with the team and scope. However you’re also currently in a long distance relationship with a SO you love and have been with for 4 years. The relationship is starting to crack and moving abroad to be with her seems like the best decision to kee the relationship. How would you play this out sirs/maams? Ask manager to work abroad and quit if they reject it? Thx for the feedback 😔
Anybody leave big law for a couple of years to raise your kids and successfully rejoined the legal field? Is big law ever an option again?
What is the average pay range for a manager role in KPMG Global services in Audit function?
How long do pwc take to schedule an interview. It’s been a week since I sent them my availability
Hi Fishes! I’m a newly promoted S1 in tax at a Top 10. I’m trying to join the Big 4 post 10/15 (preferably KPMG) Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to make it in? I had an interview with EY two weeks ago (before I was officially a senior), but never heard back, probably because they were looking for a senior lol. 😭 Thank you so much everyone!
Has anyone gotten the 125k Amex platinum welcome offer? Interested in applying for the card but only seeing 75-100k lately. Advice to get targeted? Also what’s bonus via Amex gold referral?
Is it easy to get a nonconsulting role in Social Impact, Corporate Social Responsibility, Purpose & People? MSHR and SHRM-SCP with 10+ years of experience in compliance, global mobility, people development, workforce strategy and disability advocacy.
Hasn’t been discussed in a while, but for those who are higher up the chain or heard things, what are your groups thinking as far as return to office vs WFH?
In consensus, how much does it make a difference if most of your work was outside of your specific service line? (I.e., I'm in SI and am on a long term DD project)
Just watched The Banker last night, those dudes are my new role models. There is plenty of discussion around the impacts of a partial judicial system but not as much around how financial segregation shaped the social order or impacted minority communities. Good flick
Can company ask for a COVID positive test results? HR is asking for "tracing" purposes. I don't really care to provide as I don't think they mean anything negative, but thought maybe I should be aware of what is allowed or not at least.
Is it significantly easier to get into Accenture Strategy at the SC/M level right now? What can I expect thru the interview process?
Slalom 🐠fam - what are the pros & cons of your firm? I am MC manager, up for mid year promo to SM and do Health/Pharma work. I was approached b/can office was just opened in my city and am (cont)
Hilarious, wires take a larger haircut than RIAs and indys because of everything they "provide" and then make you pay for your own leads, headsets and hardware, client service software. What a joke.
I'm a male with pierced ears that's been working at Accenture Interactive these past few years. I've been wearing transparent studs at work (which are less noticeable but still pretty apparent) to prevent my piercing from growing back in at work. I'm lateraling to MBB now where I'm assuming the rates are higher, clients are more senior, and tone a bit more serious. Would it be a career limiting move to keep my piercings?
If the client fucks up filing today like they fuck up everything else, I will loseeee my shit. YOU FOOLS!!! #inconceivable
Hi fishies 🐠 I’m an Art Director that’s trying to transition over to UX Design. I have experience building websites and some previous freelance work doing some UI/UX. What’s the best route to transition over and would I need to apply for entry level roles? Does an AD role with a UI/UX focus even exist? I enjoy the thinking of UX design and am comfortable designing interfaces but I’m mostly unsure of the process of working with an UX team. Would love to hear your thoughts!
