I'm early in my pregnancy (~9 weeks) but starting to feel anxious / unethical about certain work-related things, like new business calls. I keep having the conversations - the outcome of which is clients expecting to have me as their advisor - knowing that I'll be at least mostly unavailable during the fall busy season. Old employer arranged a WFH contract deal where my contract is on par with my current pay. Have to pay both sides of FICA taxes, but I control my time and know I can be there for my wife and kid when needed. Keep grindin’ y’all! ✌🏽

Roth v traditional 401k? Household income $400k. I am $175k of it, wife makes $250k. My pay has been growing over 10% a year, hers has been static the last few years. 2 young kids. I have about $250k in old traditional 401k...but current 401k has Roth option. Considering doing 100% Roth but concerned about the additional 19.5k in tax income from the 401k alone on our general financial situation. I can also do multiple choices like 10% to Roth and 3% to trad. Is the tax hit on the Roth worth it?

What is a useful, comprehensive but not too long of a book for parenting toddlers?

LO is 16 months old, very sweet and social, at the park every day with other kids with either me or her nanny. Not in day care. Yesterday we had a play date and she slapped another baby on the head. Not hard and did not scare her, but the act of “aggression” took me by surprise and I felt terrible about it. I’d like to be more proactive about toddler psychology, what’s to come and how to react/ teach. TY!

What is effective to lose weight/fat in your mid-30s or late-30s for F? Anyone had success with this they can share? I used to eat the same way I do now in my 20s and would not gain weight. But in 30s, my belly is now looking like the one of pregnant woman’s. I’m serious, it’s firm and round:) I am being offered seats on the subway. I am not gaining weight elsewhere, it’s just my pregnant looking belly is a problem:)

Are there any single moms in this group? How do you cope with juggling a career as an attorney and being a full time solo parent with limited support? So I got 2 offers, 1 at a well-known firm (that I previously worked at, not as an atty) that offered 80K plus full benefits (100% health coverage, PTO, sick days, discretionary bonus & 1800 billable req.) Their a little old school in their methods but I do see the younger gen. coming in to make changes. 2nd offer is at a newer firm however i’ve heard great things, and they offered 80k, unl. 33+4 weeks pregnant with my first and having some concerning symptoms and want to know if I should go to hospital. I live in NYC, so maternal care is a little more lackadaisical than out of town. I called my OB line (assumed there would be an on-call? Was never told what to do in this scenario) and the call center said they’ll send my info to the on-call to call me back. It’s been over an hour and still haven’t heard anything. Is this normal?
