Any perspectives on 401k rollovers? Started a new job. Is it best to rollover into the new employer 401k. Stay put with past employer plan Or rollover all or a portion of my savings into an IRA?

Depends. You want to be in fidelity or vanguard, the two best. Also check funds. But usually if you're with fidelity or vanguard the funds are good.

like

You also get many more fund options (all of them vs the 10-15 in your 401k plan)

However with all internet advice do your owm research and talk to fidelity customer service. They are great

I rolled mine to an IRA at Vanguard. I preferred their fund options to my previous employer’s and Accenture’s

Depends who the providers are. I rolled mine over immediately from Principal to Fidelity

Thanks. I’m looking at rolling the funds over to an IRA with Fidelity. But should I be concerned about the tax implications of going from a 401k (pre tax contributions) to an IRA? I assume the gov’t will eventually circle back for its pound of flesh.

No concern as long as you will rollover all the money. Getting TAX benefit of IRA later in future depends on your salary and household income. TAX advisor may help you with that. Initial Roll over should not be any issue though.

like

Absolutely no tax issues if you go pretax 401k to traditional IRA. I've done it to fidelity! Very easy. In fact, it allows more future tax flexibility as you can convert trad ira to roth ira later down the line

I was in a similar situation a few years back and rolled into an IRA with no issues. However, more recently, I wanted to borrow against a retirement account for a mortgage down payment and you can borrow up to 50% from 401k and ~$10k from IRA. Lots of tradeoffs to the debate on borrowing towards a mortgage and it comes down to your situation.

Feeling really insecure and anxious about my finances.

I worked mediocre jobs in my 20s but was diligent about saving and I had an okay nest egg saved up.

It was supposed to be a down payment on a home but unexpected medical costs ate through that super quickly.

I make low six figures and live pretty frugally so no stuggles day to day but here I am in my late 30s and im essentially starting from scratch again and it feels really bad 😓

I currently work in Atlanta for a healthcare management company that is local to the area. I just got into the healthcare industry and have my bachelors degree in health science. I work in a position in the revenue cycle and I am looking to possibly get a new job in a more established company. I want more stability and opportunity within a company. Does anyone know of any places in/around Atlanta or remote that may fit this criteria? Sorry for the vagueness. Thanks!

Hello All,
Excel help please. I’m trying to combine 3 tabs into 1. So on tabs a,b,c I have wire instructions that go to different places, but they all have the same field names/format. However the number of rows for each tab will vary from day to day. I need to make a fourth tab that shows all the rows from a,b,c consecutively. Because the number of rows change, I can’t find the best way to collate all the rows into one table. I can use a macro or lookups or a source formula. Please advise!

Can someone explain the real tax impact of drawing from an inherited IRA all in one year. 280k currently a single filer at the top of the 24% bracket. Any distribution would put me in 32% and all of it in 35%. I don’t expect my income to reduce and I need to withdraw within 10yrs. Is the cost of doing so lump sum just 3% - 10k? Or am I missing something. Maybe tax free growth? But not sure if that’s meaningful
