Thats the devil’s bargain isnt it? The big catch 22 when you really get down to what awards mean.
A place that lets you work only (!) 40 hrs wont really care about your awards…but a place that doesnt care about awards wont give you a big salary, because, why are you different from other people there?
A place that loves your awards wants you to win awards for THEM now, to do all the extra work that takes, to “own you.” And they might not want to pay much either! They expect you to see it as a big opportunity….to win more awards. Which will lead to…
This is why WK is the alpha omega right? They’re * too good * to lust after awards. And supposedly they treat their people well.

My friend who worked there said it was the most reasonable place he’d worked at, hours-wise. But with the norm being so extreme it could mean anything.
Team One or RPA.

Used to intern at RPA and I agree. Pretty sure most car account-focused places in LA are that way. Saatchi is the same deal
For the record I don’t care about my awards. But if others do, I can dig them out of the closet.
Tech.
I dont work past 4:59pm at a FAANG.
Suggest in-house at most creatively sophisticated brand you can find (tech, fashion, entertainment). This will give you best combo of smart/worldly/diverse colleagues +decent resources+ sane hours/minimal pitching paranoia. Suggest avoiding in-house in smaller markets with mostly homegrown peeps on team, though. You’ll feel like a smart fish in an inbred pond by virtue of your experience alone. Diamonds in rough exist of course, just be aware: there’s a lot of rough.
