Leave a dish with apple cider vinegar and a little dish soap near the plant! The flies will be attracted to the vinegar, then drown because of low surface tension!
I do this too! But add - (use a cup rather than a dish) take a piece of paper and roll it into a cone with a small-ish opening at the point of the cone, secure the paper in that position with a piece of tape, then stick the cone point down in the cup. The tip of the cone should not touch the surface of the water. Now for any flies who might escape the surface tension, they can’t fly back out unless the can navigate back to the small hole in the cone which they aren’t very good at. If you don’t have vinegar, or if you don’t want to kill them, you could use this cone method and throw an old piece of fruit or peel in the cup to attract them in, then release them outside.
I also keep the old tried and true fly strips around if I need a fast solution or there are a lot of them

Bottom water plants. The top soil will be too dry for them to live. Look it up on YouTube
Eat them
I’ve been keeping a small dish of honey out to trap and kill them which seems to be working, not 100% though so I want to try this vinegar soap method mentioned above.
