3rd litigation associate here at mid-sized firm. I’ve enjoyed lit, but I just don’t see myself working in a firm and doing lit for the next 30+ years. Despite knowing I wouldn’t enjoy transactional work much, I’m inclined to try to transfer areas just for the exit options.

Any other litigators deal with this early on? Those that stayed in lit, did those initial feelings change? Did you find exit options?

Been unhappy and stuck at my big law firm for a couple years. Mentor set me up with a secondment with a client. Still trying to feel out client, but mentor is trying to convince me to take in-house position if it comes up. I do not like the town the client is located in, and I’m not sure of the salary. Am I kindly being pushed out? I like the work well enough in the secondment but the location is a non-starter.

Advice regarding following up multiple times with lead partner about a position in his practice group? I have been in contact with the firms recruiting director as well as 4 of the firms partners. The lead partner and I were supposed to connect a few weeks back but we were never able to. My issue is that I've already essentially followed up twice.
