So the Columbia office is a Service Delivery Center, which is Advisory, and we have RC, MC, and TC. As an SDC, we operate pretty differently from core and more importantly we're a cost savings center so salaries are significantly lower, but we do get paid OT (at levels below associate). You don't have much, if any, control over your staffing, even once you make connections outside columbia. Travel is limited and depends on project. Long story short, it's a great way to get your foot in the door but I wouldn't come here if you've already got other experience

No problem! I am trying to be honest and diplomatic. I've had overall a great experience here and invaluable opportunities, but finance was never my intended career path and I kind of stumbled into this job. If you want to see more negative reviews, check out the Glassdoor page. Definitely not for everyone, and outgrown quickly, but has its place.
It was your honesty and diplomacy that made this so helpful and one of the reasons I still keep this app - to get perspective on places I wouldn't otherwise.
Thanks! What practices are based out of there and what is your practice?
Interesting. So SDC is not as full of a management consulting experience as your GDC?
I would say no. I equate the SDC as the community college vs 4 year school. It's a great start for people with no experience or fresh out of school (like I was) but we have high attrition because PwC expectations are not met/the office is sold as core PwC and people end up disappointed and pissed. Not to mention associates are considered leadership and only making 50-60k
Other SDCs are based in China and India...we are the first for advisory in the US so we're basically an experiment
I see. Well thank you pwc1 so much for the transparent insight!
