NYC is so much fun to love in though. And in consulting, you make enough to have fun and save comfortably for the future. So what's the point?

Agree^. Why live near NYC if you're not in it? Cheaper and much nicer housing can be found in pretty much any other city across the US

I don't give a shit about my expenses. It's none of firms business where I choose to live. When they hire you they say you can choose to live wherever you want. So I always uber $100 to and from airport and also have high flight rates due to being a smaller airport. I stick to limit for food and whatever their expenses I incur but think does firm feel bad about u waking up 4am for global meeting or working on weekends? No then neither should u about what it takes for u to work like that

I do that in Cal. Away from bay and fun city and friends but in 3 years it has helped me save as much as someone who was earning more than me. Now that my pay gap is bridged I feel comfortable to move and have the fun

What are pros and cons? Obviously I wonder what if I lose my job and can't find anything nearby!

I hardly need to go in to office so it works out 👌 for now... wanted to know if others have been in similar situation

You get to expense the taxi? I drive 70 miles to the airport each way on my own dime, because the airport is close to my home office....

When flying on client engagement I have been expensing taxi from home to airport and back ...isn't that allowed?

OP- that's allowed. Don't know if there are distance or fare restrictions

It is allowed

I would much prefer to live in NYC suburbs than in nyc itself. #stamvegas

SC1 did you ever get dinged because your expense i.e. Flights prices from local/regional airports are high or taxi charges are high? My other expenses are pretty low because I don't indulge in food or drinks while travel

Amen SC1

Hey I have an ASC840 accounting question on this scenario - a target sold an asset 10 years ago for 10,000,000 and immediately leased it back. They recorded a deferred gain of $1M and amortized it over the term of the lease (still going) and letting that gain every month reduce the rent expense. Since this deal is cash free debt free shouldn’t we treat this as a debt like item? They received the cash in a prior period but we are now stuck with the payments. Debating how to quantify the adjstmnt

Has anyone submitted grad school applications while working in tech sales? Or have any managers here managed employees who’ve gone through this process?
