Is it time to leave? I started in late 2019, have pulled almost 20 all-nighters working, took over other peoples clients when they struggled on multiple occasions, never missed a billable hours goal, and prepared/gave training presentations for coworkers. I started a little bit before Covid and there were no bonuses given out by my firm so far in my career until this year because of it. I was passed up for my first real bonus with no explanation. Is it time?
Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
Anyone else realizing that family, friends, and general relationships are SO much more important than accomplishments as a result of covid/WFH?
Has anyone resigned their lease on a covid deal apartment? Did the rent go up significantly? Lease is expiring in November and not sure what to expect from the lanlord since the market is back to pre-covid levels
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
The truth about how covid started
Where are all my ESG and CSR folks? Apparently the economic slowdown from covid 19 has caused emissions to slow down incredibly.
What's a very memorable or engaging networking event you attended? What made it so great (could be something from pre covid times too or from the present new norm if virtual)!
ZS fish - What do you expect travel to be like after offices open? (I.e. similar to pre-Covid when it was minimal/local?)
New England Friends: we are a couple in early 30s (No kids yet and a small dog) planning to move to New England from Chicago. Our options are Hartford, CT and Boston, MA. Below are few considerations - 1. SO does not need to travel and will commute to work and I might need to travel when COVID is over. 2. Will prefer a dog friendly neighbourhood. 3. Both are from Midwest so winter does not bother us. 4. Planning to sell our condo in Chi and buy a SFH in the location. Any recommendations?
Advice on how to identify open roles that are primarily remote/WFH but willing to travel when it’s safe? When I search on company sites, LinkedIn, etc. the roles are usually tied to a specific city, but there’s got to be more out there considering pre-Covid travel and now WFH. TIA!
Fishbowl = Coronavirus Work-life
I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?
Deloitte hiring freeze? I had a verbal offer and reviewed benefits 3 weeks before the covid environment. I was informed that I would be contacted when there was an update. Wait or reach out? Advice?
Quick update for those who might be curious about the situation in my school and our lack of COVID precautions. I often comment on here about how my school stayed in person all year last year with almost no difference from a normal year. No mask mandate, no teachers or staff masking. 10% or less of students masking. Very few vaccinated here. Results: we have no students, staff, or family members in the hospital. Very few cases either. Two months of this now.
HR professionals- are you requiring a negative test before any employees return to work after COVID? Some had very mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. I’ve read not to push for a Dr.’s note and some people can still be positive yet not contagious. Right now I’m following the cdc guidelines of 10 days from first symptom, fever free for 24 hrs and improvement of symptoms.
With the holidays coming up, partners and client relationship owners, do you get your clients gifts? Pre-COVID we sent treats to the office, but most of my clients are still home. Would it be appropriate to send gifts directly to them? If so, any ideas on things/price limits?
Protests scared coronavirus away!
I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
Consulting firms, how does your company use utilization as a performance metric? And what are your targets (e.g, Junior practitioners vs senior)
Can I ask Marriott to give me access to the lounge if I’ll be stay there for at least 20 nights in the next month? I don’t have any status yet.
Anyone else annoyed with the darn holiday cards with everyone's picture perfect families? Dont get me wrong, there are some I genuinely like bc I like them. Some just feel like its rubbing it in. Or all in my head :(
I'm on a 5:30am flight on spirit airlines... Upvote if knowing that makes you feel a little better about whatever BS you have to deal with today

First-year 5th grade teacher here. Once I am able to get in my classroom, I will only have 2 weeks to get ready. Any advice on what I can do to prep before getting into my room would be appreciated.
