What are your companies doing in regard to work from home/flexibility? I can’t imagine not having the option to work from home, especially in tech and have heard a lot of my friends say they would quit their respective company if they couldn’t wfh….now that we’ve done it successfully is that a dealbreaker for you too?

I’d recommend getting a IT certificate from aws/azure/google cloud/Salesforce and work in implementations
Most of my psych peers (I have an BS in psych and a MS in IO) either are underemployed or went to consulting with very few in between tbh. Consulting does really like psych degrees and most of my coworkers (before leaving consulting) were 50/50 business and psych. Def suggest applying to the big4
I have a psychology degree and went straight into UX Design. I’ve also done UX Research. Both are super psychology heavy (plus they pay extremely well).
If you want structured learning and like engaging with other people, I’d recommend taking a short UX course like a boot camp or even a semester long online course hosted by a college/university. That’ll teach you the basics and give you all the industry terms you’ll need to know plus some project work to start building a portfolio (but it’ll also cost money). Google has a free UX certificate program that’s pretty good.
The most valuable UX learning happens on the job so the goal should really be to just build up enough portfolio work to get your foot in the door. Most hiring managers care more about the work you’ve done and the way you’re able to communicate your design process over the badges or certificates you’ve acquired.
I thought you work in Apple? Majority of my classmates who studied psychology went to sales and marketing, some of them became a recruiter. 5% pursued PhD.
Yeah I’m in retail
I was a sociology major and got into sales and marketing out of college. Most of my liberal arts peers who didn’t go into academia or law went the same route.
Yup got into Recruiting.
Degree-specific rolls will limit your career. To branch out, bridge whatever skills gap you have. You can get into any industry by taking certifications or continuing education classes. You can also pivot laterally within Apple.
